Awarding 208 prizes for literature, art and journalism on the topic of armed forces and revolutionary war

Key activities of culture, arts and journalism of the Army in the period 2021 - 2025: Many innovations, richness and creativity

On the evening of April 15, in Hanoi, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) held an award ceremony for the creation and promotion of literary, artistic and journalistic works of the Ministry of National Defense on the topic of the armed forces (LLVT) and revolutionary war (CTCM) in the period 2020 - 2025.

This is an award organized periodically every 5 years by the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.

After 8 months of announcing the rules and implementing the collection of works; the award has gathered the positive response of artists and journalists participating, with diverse components from senior artists who have had many creative achievements and young forces that have matured in recent years, authors who are soldiers or have been in the army and many groups and individuals working in the fields of performing arts, professional composition, and amateur composition in agencies inside and outside the Army.

The General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army selected and invited 56 prestigious cultural managers, artists, and journalists inside and outside the Army to participate in 8 specialized councils in literature, theater, cinema, music, dance, fine arts, photography, and journalism to help the Steering Committee evaluate and select outstanding works to nominate for the award.

The councils worked seriously and objectively, strictly following the regulations and principles, ensuring strictness from the preliminary round to the final round with high accuracy and consistency.

The works mostly meet the criteria of the Organizing Committee, from content to form, with many artistic creations with new perspectives. Throughout the works is the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in building and protecting the Fatherland in the past and present.

The works nominated for the award have demonstrated richness not only in terms of art but also in content, national cultural identity, and military traditions, expressed by the authors with different levels, with their own personality and mark, reflected in many dimensions, and with high academic quality.

Most prominently, the clearest evidence is that there have been large-scale, large-form literary and artistic works, commensurate with the historical stature of the Army, composed, staged and performed, creating a deep impression; the works of young authors have reflected the thoughts, feelings, will and rhythm of life of today's soldiers.

The Organizing Committee awarded 208 works, including 30 A prizes, 43 B prizes, 59 C prizes, and 76 Encouragement prizes to authors and groups of authors with outstanding works on the topic of armed forces and revolutionary war in the period 2020 - 2025.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, Head of the award steering committee, commended, acknowledged and highly appreciated the dedication of the artists and authors inside and outside the Army; the efforts of agencies and units that have organized and maintained effective and quality activities and created a strong and continuous influence over the past time.

At the same time, the Lieutenant General emphasized that behind each stage light, hidden in each page, each film, each frame are the worries, sweat, efforts, the journeys regardless of danger and hardship with the warm hearts and creative thinking of artists and reporters, always striving to contribute to building a strong Army in terms of political ideology, condensed in 208 excellent works awarded by the Ministry of National Defense today.

At the award ceremony, the Organizing Committee also launched the Award for composing and promoting literary, artistic and journalistic works on the topic of military and defense in the period 2026 - 2030.
