The Minister of Education and Training has just issued Decision No. 4222 on promulgating the set of development standards for 5-year-old children with 22 standards and 70 indicators in 6 areas: physical, emotional and social, language and communication, cognition, aesthetics, and access to learning.
The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued a set of development standards for 5-year-old children.
The standards stipulate that 5-year-old children are children between the ages of 60 months and 71 months (71 months and 29 days). The standards are a collection of standards and indicators in various fields and orientations for the comprehensive development of 5-year-old children. The standards are expectations that 5-year-old children know and can do after theeducational process.
Accordingly, basic competencies in the physical field are reflected through physical health; performing motor skills; understanding and practicing nutrition, hygiene and safety.
Basic competencies in the social-emotional domain are reflected through self-awareness and social relationship competencies.
Basic competence in the area of language and communication is reflected through listening, understanding and expressing information appropriately in communication and readiness for learning to read and write.
Basic cognitive abilities are reflected through understanding and thinking skills; applying elementary knowledge and skills to solve some simple problems in daily life.
Basic competence in the field of aesthetics is reflected through the perception of beauty and the use of art as a means to express one's emotions, understanding and creativity. Standards and indicators in this field promote children's own emotions and ideas in artistic activities and the application of artistic creativity to life.
Basic competencies in the field of learning approach are reflected through a number of essential factors towards forming sustainable learning competencies later on such as autonomy in learning and solving simple problems in life.
Many expectations for 5 year olds
The 70 indicators in the standard set are 70 expected 5-year-old children to know and be able to do after the education process. For example, regarding physical standards, there are quite specific indicators such as: performing coordinated movements: going up and down on inclined planes, overcoming obstacles; climbing, climbing, moving on movement models without support; running 20 m in 5 - 6 seconds.
Children have safety skills; recognize food types, nutrient groups and health benefits; eat well (eat enough nutrients, enough quantity, diverse foods), cleanly (ensure hygiene) and healthily (good for health, prevent and avoid foods that cause allergies to themselves)...
Regarding language and communication skills, the standards state that 5-year-old children need to: recognize some signs and symbols in life; recognize and name letters in the Vietnamese alphabet; listen and recognize similar sounds in language; be ready to learn to write...
In terms of cognitive abilities, 5-year-old children know how to separate, combine; compare, add and subtract quantities within 10; demonstrate understanding and make scientific discoveries; recognize and demonstrate appropriate skills when approaching digital technology; know how to use some digital technology devices safely and properly with the support of adults; demonstrate problem-solving skills in daily life following simple steps when approaching digital technology...
The requirements of "respecting differences; being responsible for oneself, others and the environment,..." are indicators in the socio-emotional domain of this set of standards.
