Gratitude to the fruit farm owner in Phu Quoc who helped a Korean tourist find his lost mother

The Korea Tourism Organization in Vietnam presented a gift and certificate of merit to Mr. Tran Hoang Phuong (Phu Quoc). Previously, Mr. Phuong helped a Korean tourist find his 70-year-old mother who was absent-minded and lost.

On the morning of November 15, a representative of the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) in Vietnam visited Mr. Tran Hoang Phuong's house in Phu Quoc, An Giang province to express his thanks and award him a certificate of merit for his good deed of helping a lost Korean tourist.

The incident has been spread on social media in recent days, attracting great attention from the Korean community. Many Koreans expressed their emotion and gratitude for Mr. Phuong's enthusiasm in not hesitating to support a stranger in difficult times.

Ms. Park Eun Jung, Chief Representative of KTO in Vietnam, said that the gratitude is not only to recognize Mr. Phuong's gesture but also to spread the spirit of sharing and humanity in the community.

"We are very grateful for Mr. Tran Hoang Phuong's noble gesture. This is a testament to the kindness and hospitality of the Vietnamese people," said Ms. Park.

According to her, the story contributes to vividly depicting the close relationship between the people of the two countries, not only in tourism but also in daily life. In return, KTO will continue to make efforts so that Vietnamese people when visiting Korea can also feel the same friendliness.

Vietnam is currently one of the most favorite destinations of Korean tourists, while Korea is also a popular choice of Vietnamese tourists.

"The sincere connection between the two countries' people is an important foundation for sustainable development of bilateral tourism and cultural relations," the KTO representative emphasized.

The unit expressed hope that beautiful actions like Mr. Phuong's will continue to spread, contributing to building the image of two friendly, kind-hearted peoples who are always willing to help each other.

Mr. Phuong is the owner of a fruit shop in Phu Quoc special economic zone, An Giang province. At around 6 p.m. on November 2, he saw a Korean tourist panic and run to him to ask for security camera footage.

A family of 3 (mother, son and daughter) went to Phu Quoc for a vacation. While shopping at a nearby supermarket, the 70-year-old mother with dementia suddenly went missing.

After 15 minutes of checking the camera, Mr. Phuong discovered the image of an old woman holding a cane walking past the shop. He posted the information to Phu Quoc groups, asking for information, and took the male tourist by car to search all the main roads.

After nearly 2 hours of searching, he found the old woman walking on the road with a cane, about 4 km from the store. He took the mother and daughter back to the fruit shop, reunited with the girl who was waiting. The Korean male tourist offered to give 500 USD as a thank you, but Mr. Phuong refused.

The story of Mr. Phuong's kindness was published by the Korean news agency Yonhap . The article quoted the male tourist, recounting the moment he discovered his mother missing. Many other major Korean newspapers and television stations such as JTBC News, SBS News, and Chosun Daily later shared the incident, attracting thousands of comments.
