(TN&MT) - Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has issued a document directing the implementation of fire prevention, firefighting (PCCC) and rescue work during the peak holiday season, New Year, Lunar New Year and 2025.
Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested the City Police to proactively advise the City Party Committee and the City People's Committee in leading and directing the effective implementation of safety solutions in the field of fire prevention and fighting and search and rescue to contribute to ensuring security and order in the city. Advise the City People's Committee to direct the implementation of fire prevention and fighting safety measures and solutions for types of facilities such as family houses, houses combined with businesses, residential areas, and high-rise apartments.
Organize the review, inspection, and guidance on fire prevention and fighting solutions for multi-storey houses, multi-apartment houses, and individual houses combined with production and business. Require the heads of establishments and householders to commit and have a roadmap to implement fire prevention and fighting enhancement solutions issued by the City People's Committee and complete the implementation of the solutions before March 30, 2025 (after the above time, if the organization does not implement, it must stop operations until the implementation is completed).
Assign the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with the City Police and the People's Committees of districts, towns, and Thu Duc City to deploy measures and solutions to improve effectiveness and efficiency. Strengthen state management in the construction sector, especially issues related to conditions, standards, and regulations to ensure fire safety and escape in high-rise, super high-rise buildings, and buildings with many basements.
At the same time, take the lead in coordinating with the People's Committees of districts, Thu Duc City and relevant agencies and units to strictly and fully comply with legal regulations on appraisal and issuance of construction permits for projects requiring design and approval of fire prevention and fighting. Strictly control the conditions for granting construction permits for multi-apartment housing of households, individuals, and high-density rental service establishments.
In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also assigned the Department of Justice, Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Information and Communications, Department of Culture and Sports, City Electricity Corporation, Saigon Water Corporation - One Member Limited Liability Company and the city's press and radio agencies to participate in fire prevention and fighting and rescue work to contribute to minimizing damage caused by accidents, fires and explosions; ensure fire prevention and fighting safety, contribute to protecting political security, social order and safety during holidays, New Year, Lunar New Year and 2025.
In 2024 (from December 15, 2023 to November 14, 2024), there were 410 fires in Ho Chi Minh City, killing 16 people, injuring 19 people, causing damage to about 15,000 square meters of factory area, hundreds of houses and many properties, machinery and equipment of people and businesses.
