The North-South high-speed railway project is over 1,500 km long. Currently, the National Assembly has agreed on the policy of separating the site clearance for the project into a separate project for proactive and timely implementation. At the same time, the site clearance work is assigned to the Ministry of Construction to preside over, coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, and localities to organize the implementation.

Meanwhile, the direction of the Politburo , the Government Party Committee and the Government Standing Committee is that by August 2025, site clearance work must be carried out, including resettlement issues, as the starting step for the North-South High-Speed Railway Project.

According to the Ministry of Construction, the North-South High-Speed Railway Project passes through 20 provinces and cities, but after the administrative unit arrangement, the remaining localities are 15. The project has a preliminary land use demand of nearly 11,000 hectares, with an expected resettlement of nearly 121,000 households.

Currently, the Ministry of Construction has handed over preliminary design documents and site clearance boundaries for 20 localities to develop plans, implement resettlement and compensation work. According to the plan, localities are required to complete basic compensation and resettlement support work before December 2026 to hand over the site to the construction contractor.

For Dong Nai , the North-South high-speed railway line passing through the province is nearly 82km long, with 1 passenger terminal in the Long Thanh International Airport area, 1 cargo terminal in Quang Tien commune, Trang Bom district and 2 maintenance stations located in Lang Minh commune, Xuan Loc district and Cam Duong commune, Long Thanh district. To implement the project, Dong Nai province will reclaim an area of about 490 hectares of land.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha assigned the Ministry of Construction to work directly with each locality to conduct field inspections, paying special attention to routes passing through natural forest core areas, cultural heritages, national defense and security areas, and densely populated areas.

Along with that, the Ministry of Construction coordinates with the Ministry of Justice to soon complete the Government's Resolution, removing planning problems arising after the merger of provincial administrative units.

Regarding financial resources, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha affirmed that the land clearance and resettlement project for the North-South High-Speed Railway Project is an independent project using the central budget. The Ministry of Finance must have specific instructions and send them to relevant provinces and cities for implementation.
