Rice cultivation is profitable, people do not abandon their fields

In the 2024 Spring crop, many families in Dan Hoa commune, Thanh Oai district switched to growing the new J02 rice variety. After about 4 months of care, J02 rice in the fields of Thong, Lo, Cau Leu (Tien Lu village, Dan Hoa commune) began to turn yellow and laden with flowers, signaling a bumper crop. Director of Dan Hoa Agricultural Cooperative Nguyen Van Su said that this spring crop, the cooperative planted 30 hectares of J02 rice.

The model was supported with seeds and fertilizers, and with planting and care techniques by the Hanoi Agricultural Development Center. The results showed that J02 rice has good resistance to pests and diseases and high productivity. The cooperative has harvested and counted, the yield reached 66 quintals/ha; the expected output on an area of ​​30ha is 198 tons. After deducting costs, J02 earned 31 million VND/ha/crop.

According to Vice Chairman of Thanh Oai District People's Committee Nguyen Trong Khien, the district has more than 6,000 hectares of rice, of which more than 5,500 hectares are planned for high-quality rice. Up to now, the district has 7-8 areas growing J02 rice and high-quality rice with an area of ​​about 2,000 hectares applying mechanization in production. The model brings high economic value, brings joy to many households, and limits the situation of people leaving their fields fallow. In the past, the district has coordinated with the Center

Hanoi Agricultural Development has successfully built a rice consumption chain in Tam Hung commune, built a collective brand of Bo Nau rice in Thanh Van commune, and built a collective brand of high-quality Binh Minh rice. Since then, the consumption of rice products in the district has been more favorable, helping farmers produce sustainably. In the coming time, Thanh Oai district will increase the area of ​​rice cultivation meeting export standards, considering this an important goal for the district to develop high-quality, commodity agriculture.

In recent years, along with the city’s policies, Thanh Oai district has issued support mechanisms for agricultural production; in which, priority is given to concentrated commodity agriculture and high-tech agriculture. Thanks to that, production efficiency has increased day by day, and farmers’ lives have been significantly improved.

Thanh Oai District hopes to receive the attention and cooperation of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and its affiliated units in rice production in particular and agricultural development in general, so that Thanh Oai will have more collective brands and production - consumption chains of agricultural products. This is an important factor motivating the district to promote socio-economic development, soon reaching the goal of Advanced New Rural District in 2024.
