Today's coffee prices were updated at 4:30 a.m. on November 4, 2024 as follows, according to www.giacaphe.com, today's domestic coffee prices range from 106,000-106,500 VND/kg. Currently, the average purchase price in the Central Highlands provinces is 106,500 VND/kg, the highest purchase price in Dak Nong and Dak Lak provinces is 106,500 VND/kg.

Specifically, the coffee purchase price in Gia Lai province (Chu Prong) is 106,400 VND, in Pleiku and La Grai the same price is 106,300 VND/kg; In Kon Tum province the price is 106,400 VND/kg; In Dak Nong province the coffee is purchased at the highest price of 106,500 VND/kg.

The price of green coffee beans (coffee beans, fresh coffee beans) in Lam Dong province in districts such as Bao Loc, Di Linh, Lam Ha, coffee is purchased at 106,000 VND/kg.

Domestic coffee prices (November 4) in Dak Lak province; in Cu M'gar district, coffee was purchased at about 106,500 VND/kg and in Ea H'leo district, Buon Ho town, it was purchased at the same price of 107,600 VND/kg.

The domestic coffee market continued to decline compared to the same time yesterday. To summarize the week, domestic coffee prices decreased for the fifth consecutive week this week, with a decrease of 3,300 - 3,500 VND/kg to 106,000 - 106,500 VND/kg.

The whole month of October 2024 lost 14,000 VND/kg, currently trading in the range of 106,000 - 106,500 VND/kg.

The 2023-2024 crop year ended with a supply-demand balance tilted towards a surplus of 1 million bags. However, the 2024-2025 coffee production is forecast to be heavily impacted by extreme weather factors.

Coffee prices in the third quarter remained high, double that of the same period last year. Total global green coffee exports in the first 11 months of the 2023-24 crop year (October to August) reached 113.8 million bags, up 10.5% from 103 million bags in the same period last year.

Experts believe that coffee prices in the fourth quarter may adjust downward due to additional supplies from major coffee-growing countries, including Vietnam. In addition, the EU’s temporary suspension of the EUDR has eased concerns about the risk of supply disruptions.

In Vietnam, harsh climate conditions and shrinking coffee growing areas will reduce the country's total harvest by about 10% to 15% in the 2023-2024 crop year to about 1.5 million tons.

Arabica coffee prices on the New York floor on the morning of November 4, 2024 decreased, from 239.20 to 242.95 cents/lb. Specifically, the December 2024 delivery period is 242.95 cents/lb (down 1.20%); the March 2025 delivery period is 242.40 cents/lb (down 1.26%); the May 2025 delivery period is 241.35 cents/lb (down 1.27%) and the July 2025 delivery period is 239.20 cents/lb (down 1.22%).

The price of Brazilian Arabica coffee on the morning of November 4, 2024 increased and decreased in different directions. Specifically, the delivery period for December 2024 was 297.30 USD/ton (up 0.25%); the delivery period for March 2025 was 295.55 USD/ton (down 1.04%); the delivery period for May 2025 was 295.05 USD/ton (down 1.37%) and the delivery period for July 2025 was 292.10 USD/ton (down 1.32%).

Robusta coffee traded on the ICE Futures Europe (London exchange) opens at 16:00 and closes at 00:30 (next day), Vietnam time.

Arabica coffee on the ICE Futures US floor (New York floor) opens at 16:15 and closes at 01:30 (next day), Vietnam time.

For Arabica coffee traded on the B3 Brazil floor, it will be open from 19:00 – 02:35 (next day), Vietnam time.

Robusta coffee futures have just fallen to their lowest level in the past 2.5 months, as Vietnam is about to enter the peak harvest season in November. In addition, traders said that strong exports of robusta (conilon) coffee from Brazil are also putting great pressure on Robusta coffee prices.

Meanwhile, Arabica coffee prices also fell 1.2% to 242.95 cents/lb, on news that recent rains in Brazil will improve the coffee crop after a long dry period. Coffee growing areas in Brazil have blossomed in October when rains returned, according to cooperatives and agronomists. However, coffee prices are still down 5.06% over the past four weeks. Climatempo forecasts heavy rains in the Minas Gerais region later this week, which could have a positive impact on coffee production.

Another factor driving down coffee prices is the weakening of the Brazilian real, which hit a nearly three-month low against the dollar at 5.780 reals to $1. The spread between New York and London futures prices widened further on Thursday to 47.73 cents per pound, suggesting that Robusta is losing ground to Arabica, especially in a market that is under pressure.
