Jilin Province is located in northeastern China, and its trade activities mainly depend on seaports, border gates and airports.
Over the past 8 years, since the opening of the intermodal railway connecting Changchun City, the capital of Jilin Province, with Europe, trade opportunities with European countries have become increasingly open, creating new momentum for this locality to develop production and open up foreign cooperation.
According to a representative of Changchun International Inland Port, in 8 years of operation, the intermodal railway connecting to Europe has transported a total of 82,000 TEU of goods worth 24 billion yuan. In the first 6 months of 2023, the volume of goods reached 4,464 TEU, an increase of 30% over the same period last year.
The Changchun-Europe Railway starts from Xinglong Railway Port, carrying goods such as automobiles and auto parts, industrial products, daily necessities, etc., exiting through Manzhouli Port, and then moving to European countries. This is the first railway line in Jilin Province connecting to Europe; since its opening, it has always been operated at high frequency.
The intermodal railways not only contribute to bringing Chinese goods to European countries, but also import many strong European products, distributing them in the Chinese market. For example, along with the Changchun-Europe railway, a system of bonded warehouses, multimodal international transportation, cross-border e-commerce... was formed, bringing tens of thousands of products from more than 100 countries and territories, including cars, cosmetics, household appliances, wine, food... from European countries to display, introduce, and distribute to local consumers.
According to assessments, over the past 10 years, the China-Europe intermodal rail network has become a prominent and symbolic project in the cooperation between the two sides, not only contributing to helping people in the countries benefit from the development of railways, but also becoming an important route to ensure the safety and stability of the international logistics supply chain.
