Earlier, at around 7am the same day, while fishing in the southwest area of Truong Sa island, more than 6 nautical miles away, fishing boat NT 02070TS had a problem with the net winch control box. The captain contacted the Truong Sa island Logistics and Technical Service Center for instructions on entering the dock to repair the damage.

The center's technical team conducted an inspection and discovered that the cover of the winch control box was cracked and broken, hydraulic oil spilled out, causing loss of pressure and loss of control; the technical team removed the winch control box cover and brought it back to the workshop for repair, mechanical processing and sealing of the control box cover.
By 4 p.m. on May 18, the problem had been successfully resolved. The technical team transferred the equipment to the fishing boat, installed it, tested it for normal operation, and handed it over to the captain to continue the journey to sea to catch seafood.

While the ship was anchored waiting for repairs, the center's staff combined propaganda of Prime Minister 's Directive 45/CT-TTg to the fishermen; introduced the activities of the ports and fishing villages in Truong Sa island district; and presented the national flag, personal life jackets, 1,500 liters of fresh water and some necessities and medicines to the fishermen on board.
This is a regular activity at the ports and fishing villages of Squadron 129 on Truong Sa archipelago, effectively implementing the program "Vietnam Navy as a support for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea".
