The opening ceremony was attended by leaders of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, Ho Chi Minh City University of Sports and 100 students, teachers, students and athletes from many provinces and cities in the Southern region.
The class will take place from June 11 to 15, consisting of two main parts: Theory and practice.
The teaching content closely follows the latest Volleyball Competition Rules of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), skills in handling situations on the field, competition organization, professional ethics and technology skills to support referees.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh - Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Sports, Head of the Organizing Committee emphasized: "Refereeing plays a key role in developing volleyball in a systematic and sustainable manner.
Organizing this year's referee class not only meets the increasingly high professional requirements, but also contributes to standardizing the referee team in the direction of professionalization of Vietnamese sports ."
Upon completion of the course and passing the final exam, students will be awarded a national volleyball referee certificate.
This is an important condition to be registered to officiate at national championships, youth tournaments and official tournaments organized by the Federation.
Also at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Van Hung, lecturer of the course, shared: “Volleyball in Vietnam has a long history of development, known from 1920-1922 in big cities.
Today, volleyball has become a popular sport, with many major tournaments and national teams participating in regional and world tournaments.
Regularly opening referee classes for volleyball is very necessary, and is also an opportunity to discover and nurture potential referees who can develop to the regional and international levels in the future."
Organizing the national volleyball referee course is not only an annual professional activity, but also an important step in the sustainable development strategy of Vietnamese volleyball.
With a team of experienced instructors and a modern training program, the class promises to contribute to improving the quality of referees - the indispensable "judges" of top sports arenas.
