Mario Gila has been impressive in Serie A since leaving Real Madrid.

Gila spent three years in Real Madrid's reserve team before making his first-team debut in the 2021/22 season. However, he only made one appearance for the Spanish giants and was sold to Lazio in the summer of 2022. Lazio paid £5m to sign Gila from Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old made over 40 appearances last season as Lazio finished seventh in Serie A and reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League. Manager Maurizio Sarri does not want to lose Gila, but a number of big clubs are chasing the player.

According to Il Messaggero , Chelsea, Tottenham, Bournemouth and PSG are all interested in signing Gila. The paper also said Chelsea made a £30m offer, which Lazio quickly rejected.

Lazio are also said to have rejected a £35m bid from Bournemouth, but are willing to sell if they receive an offer of around £50m.

Despite not having made a single appearance for Spain, Gila was called up to the national team for the UEFA Nations League quarter-final against the Netherlands earlier this year. Defence is an area Chelsea are keen to strengthen this summer.

Under the leadership of coach Enzo Maresca, Chelsea finished the season in 4th place in the Premier League to win a ticket to the Champions League next season, along with the Conference League championship.

The Blues signed £30m striker Liam Delap from Ipswich Town and welcomed Dario Essugo and Mamadou Sarr to Stamford Bridge after signing for them this year.

Chelsea are also looking for a striker. Conversely, Chelsea would be willing to listen to offers for a number of players who are no longer in their plans, including Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku.
