Tra Vinh University researches to serve local and community development

In the context of the Mekong Delta facing profound challenges of climate change, saltwater intrusion and resource degradation, Tra Vinh University (TVU) is gradually affirming its role as a university education center that constantly strives to develop high-quality human resources, linking training with scientific research and community service.

Besides the macro goals, Tra Vinh University chooses the practical direction of focusing on solving local problems, taking the community as the center for all activities from training to research.

To realize the goal, TVU identifies training quality as a prerequisite. The school is committed to improving the quality of teaching to international standards, an effort confirmed by prestigious rankings and recognition from global educational organizations. To date, the school has 27 training programs that have been internationally accredited by organizations such as FIBAA, AUN-QA, and ABET, and the Dentistry major has met the accreditation standards of the Ministry of Education and Training .

For many years, the University has been in the Top 200 universities with greeneducational environments and sustainable investment development, according to UI GreenMetric Ranking. For the 5th consecutive year, Tra Vinh University continues to rise in the Top 100 universities with real influence.

Scientific research comes from practice

The highlight of TVU's strategy is the orientation of highly applicable scientific research. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, Principal of the University said: "In addition to academic research to publish international articles, the University is currently focusing most of its resources, especially financial resources, on applied research to solve practical problems, especially research serving community and local development".

The foundation for these achievements is the system of centers and research institutes under TVU such as the Mekong Delta Coconut Institute, the Institute of Biotechnology, the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology... The clearest evidence is the projects that have direct impacts on the community such as the research project on the process of cultivating wax coconut embryos, which has increased the rate of wax fruit trees on coconuts from 0 - 25% of the traditional method to 100%. This technology has been transferred to many organizations and individuals at home and abroad to expand the production scale.
