The pen attached to the shirt pocket and a series of "disguised" devices for cheating on exams

(Dan Tri) - "There are candidates who attach pens to their shirt pockets but do not use them during the exam, or wear unusually large fashion rings..., which can all become cheating devices in the high school graduation exam."

The above is the sharing of Colonel Nguyen Duc Tuan, Deputy Head of Internal Political Security Department (PA03), Hanoi City Police, at the conference on guiding the 2025 high school graduation exam of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training on June 23.

According to Mr. Tuan, exam cheating is an act of violating regulations during the testing and evaluation process, aiming to achieve results that do not reflect the actual ability of the test taker.

Cheating behaviors such as: Bringing unauthorized documents into the exam room; using technological devices (headphones, phones, hidden cameras, etc.).

In particular, cheating in exams not only occurs among candidates but also among teachers, causing the risk of losing the transparency of the exam, causing bad consequences for society. In particular, teachers violate such as: intervening, changing scores after the exam...

Along with that, the police agency also provided a list of devices that candidates often use to cheat on exams such as: tiny headphones attached to devices with phone SIM cards; eyeglasses; bracelets...,

Cheating devices are disguised as many items as possible: ATM cards, glasses, smart watches, belts, rings, etc. Candidates use these devices to send exam questions out and collect answers sent in from outside.

The characteristics of these devices are identical in appearance to objects but include transceivers and communication devices inside and outside the examination room.

According to police representatives, the invigilators play an important role in detecting the sophisticated exam cheating tools mentioned above.

First, examine whether the items are normal or not? For example, a normal ATM card is very thin, but the card used for fraud is thicker, has a memory card slot and a charging port. Normal fashion rings are small in size, but the rings used for fraud are often unusually large because they contain hidden mechanisms.

In addition, observing and understanding the psychology of candidates in the examination room can detect cheating devices. For example, it is hot but candidates wear long-sleeved jackets.

In the exam room, if a candidate acts abnormally, frequently puts his hands on his ears or uses devices, mumbles, etc., he may be using broadcasting equipment to cheat.

This year, Hanoi has more than 124,000 candidates registered for the high school graduation exam. The city has established 233 exam sites; mobilized more than 16,000 officials, teachers and employees to participate in exam supervision.

Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that this is a major national exam, and the selection of personnel to participate in this exam is carefully selected by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.

The staff is seriously trained, ensuring that 100% of members participating in the task have a firm grasp of the regulations and a high sense of responsibility.
