In 2025, in addition to direct admission according to the regulations of the admission regulations, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education has groups of admission methods and admission combined with entrance exams.
2 admission methods
Regarding the group of admission methods, the school uses 2 admission methods including: priority admission according to admission regulations and admission of candidates who are specialized class students, admission using the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam.
The priority admission method according to the admission regulations and admission of candidates who are specialized class students applies to all majors.
In particular, for priority admission according to the admission regulations, the school will consider candidates who meet the conditions according to Clause 4, Article 7 of the admission regulations. Particularly for preschooleducation and national defense and security education, candidates must participate in the aptitude test organized by the school and achieve 6.5 points or higher.
For the admission of candidates who are specialized students, each major of the school will admit candidates who have graduated from high schools in the list according to the school's regulations, have a good or higher academic ranking in the 12th grade of the 2024-2025 school year and meet one of the following conditions in order of priority for the right major or a related major: Participate in the national excellent student team or the national science and technology competition team; Win first, second, or third prize in the excellent student competition organized by the provincial level or higher; Candidates have a level 4 foreign language certificate according to the 6-level foreign language proficiency framework for Vietnam or higher or equivalent according to Appendix 3 (applicable to foreign language majors according to the list of related majors); Have good academic performance in grades 10 and 11. Particularly for preschool education, physical education, and national defense and security education, candidates must participate in the aptitude test organized by the school and achieve 6.5 points or higher.
The admission method using the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam applies to all majors (except physical education, preschool education and national defense and security education). For each major, the school uses a combination of 3 subjects from the 2025 high school graduation exam for admission (including math or literature).
3 methods of combining admission and entrance exams
The group of combined admission and exam methods includes 3 methods: Admission using high school academic results combined with specialized competency assessment exams, admission using the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam combined with aptitude subject exams, admission using specialized competency assessment exam results combined with aptitude subject exams.
The admission method using high school study results combined with specialized competency assessment exams only applies to the following majors: mathematics pedagogy, information technology pedagogy, information technology, physics pedagogy, physics, chemistry pedagogy, chemistry, biology pedagogy, literature pedagogy, literature, Vietnamese studies, English pedagogy, English language, Chinese pedagogy, Chinese language, French pedagogy, French language, Russian pedagogy, Russian language, Japanese language, Korean language, primary education, special education, civic education, political education, technology pedagogy, natural science pedagogy, education, educational management, applied biology, international studies, geography pedagogy, history - geography pedagogy, geography, tourism, psychology, educational psychology, social work, educational technology, applied mathematics.
For each combination of admission to each major, the school uses the main subject corresponding to the major, which is taken from the results of the specialized competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Hanoi University of Education or Hanoi University of Education 2. The remaining two subjects in the combination are taken from the results of high school studies.
The admission score is determined by the total score of the specialized competency assessment test organized by Ho Chi Minh City University of Education in 2024, 2025 or Hanoi University of Education, Hanoi University of Education 2 organized in 2025 (converted to a 10-point scale and receiving a coefficient of 2 main subjects; adding the scores of the remaining two subjects in the combination is the average score of the subject in 6 semesters in high school. This total score is converted to a 30-point scale and adding priority points for subjects and regions according to regulations.
The admission method using the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam combined with the aptitude test only applies to physical education, preschool education, and national defense and security education.
For each major, the school uses the results of the literature or math test of the 2025 high school graduation exam and 2 aptitude tests organized by the school for admission. The admission score is the total score of the literature or math test of the 2025 high school graduation exam (according to the subject combination registered for admission) with the score of the 2 aptitude tests plus priority points for subjects and regions according to regulations.
The admission method using the results of specialized competency assessment tests combined with aptitude tests only applies to physical education, preschool education and national defense and security education.
For each major, the school uses the results of the specialized aptitude test in math or literature (depending on the admission combination) and 2 aptitude tests organized by the school for admission.
In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education plans to enroll 5,195 students for 45 university training majors and 1 preschool education college major at 3 campuses: Ho Chi Minh City main campus, Long An branch, Gia Lai branch. Notably, this year the school will start enrolling 2 new majors: educational technology and applied mathematics.
