On the afternoon of May 26, a leader of the Lottery One Member Co., Ltd. (XSKT Company) in the Western region said that the Ministry of Finance has agreed to increase the traditional lottery sales limit for lottery companies in the Southern region from June 1.

Accordingly, the limit will increase by 10 billion VND/lottery period, up to a maximum of 140 billion VND/lottery period for each company. Equivalently, each Southern Lottery Company will issue 14 million lottery tickets instead of 13 million tickets/lottery period as at present.

"Lottery supply cannot meet demand, always 100% sold. Even if it increases in the future, it still won't be enough to sell," he predicted.

The owner of a lottery agency in Hau Giang said that recently the jackpot prizes have continuously "exploded" in the Western provinces, making the lottery tickets "sold out". There is currently a shortage of lottery tickets to deliver to street vendors, so from June 1st, the increase to 140 tickets/stub is normal, there is nothing to worry about.

Mr. Hai, a level 2 agent in Soc Trang, said that recently lottery tickets have been selling like hotcakes, and he often receives not enough to sell. "In addition to the habit of buying lottery tickets to pray for luck and win the jackpot, recently the "god of fortune" has come to many provinces, so purchasing power has increased, making it difficult to sell enough lottery tickets. Even if it increases tomorrow, I think it will sell out, so there is nothing to worry about," he informed.

A level 1 lottery agent in Ca Mau City, Ca Mau Province, informed that increasing the limit to 140 billion/period is understandable because currently most lottery tickets of the provinces are sold in the market with a quantity reaching nearly 100%. There are many days when there is a shortage of lottery tickets with good numbers.

"Demand is high, so it is inevitable that companies will increase to 140 billion according to market trends of supply and demand. Recently, there are more lottery ticket buyers and street vendors than before, so business is more favorable," said a level 1 lottery agent in Ca Mau.

Ms. Hong, a lottery ticket vendor in Soc Trang City, Soc Trang Province, said that she only receives more than 150 lottery tickets a day, so she only sells them all in one go, and doesn't have any more to buy.

"Many people who bought lottery tickets were so excited that they took a deposit of a few dozen tickets and then paid the full amount. Hearing that more tickets would be issued, street vendors were very happy because they had the opportunity to get more lottery tickets to sell and earn more profit to cover their living expenses," Ms. Hong shared.

Many companies consume 100%

In the first quarter of 2025, lottery issuance revenue in the Southern region reached VND 38,550 billion, an increase of 6.85% over the same period and reaching more than 25% of the annual plan.

Sales revenue reached VND38,178 billion, up 6.95%; the average consumption rate of the region exceeded the consumption rate by over 99% for the first time, in which many companies sold out 100%.

Pre-tax profit was VND 4,946 billion, up 5.29% and reaching more than 28% of the yearly plan.

Thereby, Southern Lottery Companies have paid the budget 18,999 billion VND, an increase of more than 17%.
