Sending a question to Vietnam Social Security, a reader with the email address [email protected] said that he is 63 years old and does not have social insurance and is buying family health insurance. Will he be exempt from health insurance fees from July 2025?
Regarding this issue, Vietnam Social Security said that according to current regulations on implementing health insurance policies, family members participating in health insurance under the form of a household in the fiscal year will have their contributions reduced as follows:
The first person contributes a maximum of 4.5% of the basic salary (specifically 4.5% x 2,340,000 VND = 105,300 VND/month and 1,263,600 VND/year);
The second, third and fourth persons pay 70%, 60% and 50% of the first person's contribution respectively;
From the fifth person onwards, the contribution is 40% of the first person's contribution.
Thus, from July 1, 2025, the purchase of health insurance for households will still be implemented according to the above regulations, the exemption policy through support for purchasing health insurance cards will be implemented according to the roadmap.
