In recent years, Lang Son Power Company has been invested by the Northern Power Corporation to build many 110kV substations, synchronized with the transmission line system. Although the 110kV substations were invested in and built in many different stages, with different management software, up to this point, 100% of the 110kV substations have been operated under an unmanned mechanism.
Lang Son High Voltage Enterprise (Lang Son Electricity Company) is the unit assigned to directly manage the 110kV substations and power lines. Currently, the enterprise is equipped with high-tech equipment such as: completely remote control and monitoring equipment via SCADA system, remote control cameras, sensors... These devices allow the enterprise's technical staff to remotely check and analyze the heat of electrical equipment, covering the entire system from 110kV substations to power lines, including areas with difficult terrain or adverse weather. Thanks to that, potential risks such as hot spots, loose contact, or foreign objects violating the power grid safety corridor are detected early and handled promptly.
Mr. Vu Huu Tuong, Director of Lang Son High Voltage Enterprise, said: Previously, each time operating parameters were adjusted, workers had to go to the site to operate, record and check. Now, with just a few operations on the remote control system, the entire operating process is performed accurately and quickly.
All operating parameters are automatically collected and transmitted to the Remote Control Center. The data is synthesized and analyzed, helping dispatchers quickly make accurate and timely dispatching decisions. This not only helps optimize human resources but also ensures continuity and safety in the power supply process, thereby helping to improve the reliability of the grid.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Head of the Dispatching Department, Lang Son Power Company said: The company is managing 9 110kV substations (including 1 customer substation), with an installed capacity of 475 MVA. All 110kV substations are currently operated without a human operator through an automatic monitoring, data collection and remote control system. 110kV substations in the province are managed and operated through the Remote Control Center at the Dispatching Department at the company's headquarters. All switching and controlling operations of 110kV substation equipment are carried out right at the center through a modern equipment system.
Not only stopping at modernizing equipment, Lang Son Power Company has now replaced the traditional periodic maintenance method with a method based on actual data through sensors to monitor temperature, humidity, and oil levels of equipment in the substation to come up with a suitable maintenance schedule. Thanks to sensors and early warning systems, abnormal signs of the substation are detected promptly, thereby helping dispatchers to take quick action. This helps to optimize the performance of the substation and minimize the risk of serious incidents.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of Lang Son Power Company, said: 100% digitalization of 110kV substation management has brought many practical benefits. In addition, when monitoring through the computer system, the on-duty staff know the actual operating situation on the grid such as voltage, current, capacity, etc., contributing to the good implementation of operation management and reducing power loss, improving reliability to ensure safe and continuous power supply, meeting the electricity usage requirements of the province.
In the coming time, Lang Son Electricity Company will continue to build more unmanned 110kV substations to meet the smart grid development roadmap.
It can be seen that digital transformation at Lang Son Power Company has been present in all areas. In particular, focusing on digital management of 110kV substations has been playing a key role in improving the efficiency of grid operations, thereby contributing to ensuring stable and safe electricity supply to serve the needs of socio -economic development and people's lives in the province.
