Consul General Hoang Anh Tuan speaks at the ceremony to celebrate the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh at the Consulate General headquarters. |
The ceremony is an opportunity to review his exemplary revolutionary life, thereby arousing faith, pride and will to act in each cadre, party member and civil servant towards the goal of serving the country in the new era of development.
From Nha Rong Wharf to the Great Journey
President Ho Chi Minh is the embodiment of the aspiration for national independence and the ideal for humanity. Since 1911, the young man Nguyen Tat Thanh left his homeland to find a way to save the country. During 30 years of wandering in foreign lands, he absorbed the quintessence of humanity, surveyed many political models, and from there found the most suitable path for his nation - the path of proletarian revolution.
Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized: “President Ho Chi Minh was a great teacher, a talented strategist, and an outstanding humanist. His life is a living example of tireless dedication to the goal of independence, freedom, and happiness of the people."
With his foresight, Uncle Ho laid the foundation for the August Revolution in 1945, led the resistance to victory, and unified the country. Not only was he the pioneer of the Vietnamese revolution, President Ho also became a symbol of the national liberation movement in the world .

Everlasting value system
Ho Chi Minh ideology is the crystallization of patriotism, Marxism-Leninism, humanitarian spirit and Vietnamese intelligence. It is the combination of revolutionary theory with national practice, between the goal of socialist revolution and the spirit of democracy, tolerance, and taking the people as the root.
Consul General Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized: "Ho Chi Minh's ideology is not only a guiding light for the Vietnamese revolution in the 20th century, but also a priceless spiritual asset for today's generation in the process of national development."
He always advised: "To save the country and liberate the nation, there is no other way than the proletarian revolutionary path." However, he did not impose dogma but always emphasized independence, creativity, and suitability to reality. It was the ideology of "people are the root" and "taking people as the center" that helped Vietnam overcome many historical challenges.
Not only was President Ho Chi Minh an outstanding leader, he was also a model of revolutionary morality. His simple, frugal lifestyle and closeness to the people were an indelible source of inspiration for all generations of cadres and party members.
Diplomatic vision - connecting Vietnam with the world
A highlight in President Ho Chi Minh’s career was his modern, humane and flexible diplomatic thinking. He advocated peace, independence and equal cooperation between nations. With the philosophy of “making more friends and fewer enemies”, he laid the foundation for a courageous, flexible but steadfast Vietnamese diplomacy.
In San Francisco – where the 1945 United Nations Constitutional Conference took place, to which he sent a delegation – Consul General Hoang Anh Tuan affirmed: “We can feel more clearly the stature of Ho Chi Minh’s ideology in the field of foreign affairs. From the principle of ‘four no’s’ to today’s multilateral and diversified foreign policy, all originate from his humanistic philosophy.”
Thanks to inheriting and promoting Ho Chi Minh's diplomatic legacy, Vietnam has gradually enhanced its international position, becoming a strategic partner of many countries, and playing an active role in global organizations and initiatives.

New era - new mission
The 21st century opens up tremendous development opportunities for Vietnam, but also poses unprecedented challenges in terms of the environment, digital transformation, the 4.0 industrial revolution, and geopolitical competition. In that context, Ho Chi Minh's thought continues to be the guiding principle for comprehensive innovation.
General Secretary To Lam, in his speech on May 18, affirmed that: "Ho Chi Minh's thought is the theoretical and methodological foundation for building a socialist rule-of-law state, a democratic, equitable and civilized society in the context of deep integration."
At the ceremony, Consul General Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized: "Learning from Uncle Ho means learning the spirit of innovation, dedication and service. We need to learn not only from words, but also from actions, from how we behave with people, with the times and with ourselves."
It is from this spirit that the Vietnamese Consulate General in San Francisco clearly identifies its pioneering role in promoting comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and the West Coast of the United States – a place with a creative economy, advanced education and a dynamic Vietnamese community.
Commitment to Service
On behalf of all staff, Consul General Hoang Anh Tuan made three specific commitments to continue Ho Chi Minh's ideology:
First , adhere to the motto of “taking people as the root” in consular and community work. The agency will constantly improve service quality, work with a sense of responsibility and be close to the people.
Second, proactively expand cooperation with the western states of the United States, especially in education, trade, innovation, high technology and cultural and people-to-people exchanges. Each diplomat is an ambassador of friendship and a bridge between the two nations.
Third , uphold professional ethics, practice thrift, fight bureaucracy and form a professional, efficient and disciplined working style - in line with the spirit of "diligence, thrift, integrity and uprightness" of President Ho Chi Minh.

Consul General Hoang Anh Tuan concluded: “We not only celebrate his birthday but also continue that journey. That journey is the ideal, the action, the spirit of Vietnam constantly striving in the new era."
Ho Chi Minh’s ideology – with its strong vitality – continues to guide the development of the nation. In the context of a turbulent world, his independent thinking, ardent patriotism and revolutionary morality are the source for Vietnam to move forward steadily.
