On the morning of November 17, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the Vietnam Education Trade Union held the 16th People's Teacher and Meritorious Teacher Awarding Ceremony and honoring outstanding teachers and managers in 2024.
Attending the ceremony were Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son; First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Bui Quang Huy; Deputy Ministers of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son and Nguyen Thi Kim Chi; Chairman of the Vietnam Education Trade Union Nguyen Ngoc An; representatives of the Office of the President, the Ministry of Public Security , the Ministry of National Defense, the Vietnam Women's Union; leaders of Departments, Bureaus, and units under the Ministry of Education and Training, and the Vietnam Education Trade Union.

At the ceremony, authorized bythe President , the Ministry of Education and Training organized a ceremony to award the title of People's Teacher to 21 teachers from ministries, branches and localities and awarded the title of Excellent Teacher to 65 teachers under the Ministry of Education and Training.
In addition to the titles of People's Teacher and Excellent Teacher, since 2017, the Ministry of Education and Training has organized the selection of "Outstanding Teacher of the Year" to recognize and honor teachers and educational institution managers who have made outstanding contributions, creating positive and effective changes in their units, spreading throughout the industry, thereby creating motivation to promote the spirit of innovation and creativity of teachers and educational institution managers nationwide, contributing to the successful implementation of fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training.
From 2017 to 2023, through 7 selections of outstanding teachers, the Minister of Education and Training signed a decision to award Certificates of Merit to 1,600 teachers. In 2024, 251 outstanding teachers representing more than 1.6 million teachers nationwide were awarded by the Minister of Education and Training.
As the first People's Teacher of Yen Bai province to receive the noble honor conferred by the President, teacher Vu Thi Hanh, Principal of Chu Van An High School shared: Born and raised in the land of Van Yen - a remote mountainous district of Yen Bai province, since she was a child, Ms. Hanh dreamed of becoming a teacher, often playing teaching games, forcing her preschool classmates to be students so she could be the teacher. And she pursued that dream throughout her high school years to make her dream come true.

Since becoming a teacher, not only imparting knowledge, Ms. Hanh believes that education is not only with the mind but also with the heart, and must also "teach people" to her beloved students.
“With such a motto, over the past 34 years standing on the podium, witnessing the ups and downs, the changes, the breakthroughs of the country's education, despite countless difficulties and hardships, my colleagues and I still have a firm hand on the wheel, a firm hand on the oar, all for our beloved students, for the sacred duty of a teacher: improving people's knowledge, training human resources, nurturing talents for the locality, for the country", Ms. Hanh shared.
Expressing her emotions when receiving the most honorable title given by the State to teachers, Ms. Hanh could not help but worry and ponder. That is, she must demonstrate her higher responsibility, must live, work and contribute in a way that is worthy of the noble title given by the Party and State.
Ms. Hanh expressed her belief that, with the attention of the Party and the State, with the legal corridor and operating mechanisms being adjusted and supplemented in the draft Law on Teachers, the team of teachers will be confident and determined to fulfill their great mission.

Sending greetings and congratulations to 21 People's Teachers, 65 Excellent Teachers and 251 outstanding teachers representing 1.6 million teachers present at the ceremony, the Minister affirmed: Through a long history, the Education sector has achieved many important and meaningful results and achievements, contributing significantly to the cause of building, protecting and developing the country.
In particular, the period of fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training during the past time in the spirit of Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW has shown that our country's education and training have achieved many important results.
Fundamental and comprehensive educational innovation activities take place extensively and uniformly throughout the country, at all levels of education. The spirit of educational innovation is present in most places across the country. The quality of education and training at all levels of education is constantly being innovated and improved. In particular, innovation activities take place most deeply in general education and higher education.
Regarding general education, the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program with a positive shift from mainly equipping knowledge to comprehensively developing learners' qualities and capacities has achieved many positive results in the first 5-year cycle. Accordingly, the quality of general education and mass education has increased.

For higher education, university autonomy is being widely implemented with positive changes step by step in academic, financial and organizational autonomy.
The teaching force continues to receive attention from the Party, State and Government with positive signals about policies and regimes to develop the team in terms of quantity and quality. In particular, recently, in Conclusion 91-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW, it was affirmed that it is necessary to "Focus on reviewing, amending, supplementing and perfecting mechanisms, policies and laws on education and training, removing bottlenecks" and set out the requirement of "the need to soon develop a Law on Teachers".
Thoroughly grasping this viewpoint and implementing the Government's direction, the Ministry of Education and Training has presented and reported to the National Assembly at the ongoing 8th session. The Ministry of Education and Training is determined to build the Law on Teachers so that the teaching force can receive the Law with a "truly excited and truly honored" attitude, as the General Secretary said.
According to the Minister, to achieve such great and valuable results, we must mention the leadership of the Party and the State, the direction of the Government, the coordination of relevant ministries, departments, branches, and organizations, the active participation of localities, the attention of the whole society, people, parents, etc.; but among them, we must definitely mention the especially important role of teachers. Good, dedicated, exemplary teachers, and especially excellent teachers, play a core, leading role and have great influence.

Education is a difficult task, but true education, education with the right morals, education aiming at high quality, attracting learners, spreading the spirit of creativity and endless inspiration for learning is even more difficult. To achieve the title of People's Teacher, Excellent Teacher, and Exemplary Teacher, teachers have been dedicated and loved their profession, have made many contributions, have overcome difficulties and challenges to express themselves, and spread good values.

“On Teachers’ Day, it is natural and appropriate to congratulate teachers. However, for outstanding teachers, we need to congratulate them in a special way, because of their excellence and outstanding contributions to education and the community. Recognition of the contributions of each individual teacher is necessary.
“Outstanding people need special recognition, praise and thanks, also because of their special contributions to the education sector and to society. On this special occasion, I would like to express my pride, gratitude, thanks and special congratulations to the outstanding teachers who have been selected for this special occasion today,” the Minister shared.
In the coming time, there will be many challenges that the education sector will have to face to overcome and successfully carry out major tasks. After a successful initial innovation process with general education and higher education, it is time to focus on innovation and improving the quality of preschool education.
There are many tasks that need to be carried out, such as: child mobilization, implementation of the new preschool education program, universal preschool education by age, ensuring enough teachers, enough facilities, mobilizing social resources, taking care of facilities, school safety, anti-violence and food safety, enough teachers and ensuring conditions for teachers to work with peace of mind.

At the same time, general education has reached the time to complete the first cycle of curriculum and textbook innovation. It is necessary to evaluate the implementation process of general education innovation to gain experience and adjust necessary content to carry out innovation in depth. That is innovation towards perfecting and improving the quality of education, supporting disadvantaged areas, promoting favorable areas and aiming towards international standards.
In that context, English will become the second language as expected in the recent Conclusion 91-KL/TW of the Politburo. Many issues will need to be thoroughly and extensively resolved, such as human development in the new challenges of digital education, artificial intelligence (AI) and the rapid and constant development and change of science and technology.
For higher education, along with the implementation of university autonomy in depth, one of the immediate tasks that needs to be carried out is to modernize teaching facilities, laboratories, and research equipment, which are still very poor and outdated compared to advanced universities in the world.
When facilities are modernized, teaching content and methods, testing and assessment will also change accordingly, quickly adapting. With the rapid development of science, technology and information technology, new educational models will be formed and developed such as digital education, virtual education, etc.

To successfully carry out the above-mentioned major tasks, the entire education sector must be very determined and must meet many necessary conditions. In particular, the human factor, typically teachers and education managers, plays a particularly important role.
People's Teachers, Excellent Teachers, and Exemplary Teachers will be the core to best promote their experience, intelligence, determination, and creativity, while sharing, spreading, inspiring positivity, and multiplying good things to the community of teachers.

According to the Deputy Minister, 2025 is the year of many important events for the country: the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), the 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Ministry of National Education (now the Ministry of Education and Training) and the Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Education sector. The 8th National Patriotic Emulation Congress towards the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress and the celebration of the country's important holidays in 2025.
Emphasizing that in the journey of building and developing the education and training career, the emulation movement has become the enthusiasm, motivation and destination of many brilliant results. The Deputy Minister hopes that every manager, teacher and staff in the whole industry will continue to make new efforts, new determination, new solutions, promoting the good values and traditions of the education sector over the past 79 years to bring Vietnamese education to continue to develop to meet the requirements and tasks assigned by the Party, State and people.
Deeply implementing President Ho Chi Minh's teachings "Emulation is patriotism, patriotism requires emulation", "Together promoting patriotic emulation, any difficulty can be overcome, any task can be completed well", the Deputy Minister shared, the Ministry of Education and Training deeply believes that every educational manager at all levels, every teacher, civil servant, employee, staff and student in the whole sector will together effectively carry out this special emulation campaign.
“We believe that aspiration will become enthusiasm, belief, ideology, action and certainty will become strong motivation. We have the right to believe that in 2025, the education sector and the Ministry of Education and Training will achieve brilliant results and achievements,” the Deputy Minister expressed.
