Tuyen Quang builds more than 2,700 self-managed models to protect the environment, handle waste and fight plastic waste

On June 6, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tuyen Quang province held a Conference to summarize the implementation of the movement "Tuyen Quang joins hands to handle waste and fight plastic waste" in the period of 2021-2025 and to review the implementation of civilized lifestyle in weddings and funerals in the province, period 2021-2025.

After 5 years of implementing the movement "Tuyen Quang joins hands to handle waste and fight plastic waste", the entire political system has participated, receiving support, response and active participation from all walks of life. From 28 pilot models at the district level initially deployed, up to now, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations in the province have built over 2,700 models of self-managed groups, self-managed routes, on environmental protection, waste treatment and fighting plastic waste in residential areas and models in member organizations, in schools; installed 1,700 model signs.

The Fatherland Front at all levels and socio-political organizations have mobilized union members, members of self-managed groups and organizations and people to contribute to the construction of more than 71,000 waste treatment tanks and pits; more than 26,000 trash bins, over 960 garbage carts were supported and contributed by people; 22,300 environmentally friendly shopping lanes were donated; more than 92,000 leaflets and friendly bags; 1,734 organic waste composting tank covers; more than 20,000 other items to support people in collecting waste; built 639 works and models of ecological bricks from plastic waste; the total value is estimated at more than 8.5 billion VND... thereby promoting the role of the people as the main subjects in environmental protection.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels in the province have consulted with Party committees, chaired and coordinated with the authorities to organize 189 meetings with 7,745 delegates who are Village Elders, Clan Heads, Party Cell Secretaries, Village Heads, people practicing spiritual beliefs, and prestigious people who are typical of implementing civilized lifestyles in weddings and funerals, creating consensus among delegates in discussing the contents that need to be changed or eliminated to suit the customs of each ethnic group and the provisions of the law on weddings and funerals. Maintained the operation of 2,081 models in 1,426 residential areas; propagated and mobilized people to preserve national cultural identity, wear their ethnic costumes at weddings; family values, the importance of marriage, limiting divorce, early marriage, and incestuous marriage.

At the Conference, many opinions were discussed on good and effective practices at the grassroots level, contributing ideas to continue to effectively maintain self-management models on environmental protection; implement civilized lifestyles in weddings and funerals, raise awareness and consciousness about environmental protection, preserve and promote the nation's fine cultural identity...

Comrade Tang Thi Duong, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tuyen Quang province affirmed that the movement "Tuyen Quang joins hands to handle waste and fight against plastic waste" and the implementation of civilized lifestyle in weddings and funerals have achieved positive results, with many good models and effective methods. However, there are still some limitations such as: the awareness of a part of the people in environmental protection work, implementing civilized lifestyle in weddings and funerals is slow to change; the collection, classification and treatment of waste is not uniform.

He suggested that member organizations and the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in the province choose appropriate methods to continue implementing the Movement "Tuyen Quang joins hands to handle waste and fight plastic waste"; implementing civilized lifestyles in weddings and funerals in the coming time to ensure effectiveness, practicality, and increasingly attract the participation of many people; maintain and improve the quality of activities of self-management groups in residential areas on environmental protection; promote the role of prestigious people, people practicing spiritual beliefs and dignitaries and officials participating in implementing civilized lifestyles in weddings and funerals.

On this occasion, 17 collectives were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; The Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 68 collectives and 14 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the Movement "Tuyen Quang joins hands to handle waste and fight plastic waste", period 2020-2025; The Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 20 collectives and 50 individuals with achievements in the Front's work participating in implementing a civilized lifestyle in weddings and funerals.
