On the evening of November 9, Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club welcomed Thanh Hoa at home ground Pleiku in round 11 of V-League 2025 - 2026. This is considered as the reverse final of the first leg, where both teams are determined to win in order to escape the bottom group.

Facing Thanh Hoa's experienced players, Hoang Anh Gia Lai struggled to endure the match. The home team only had 1 chance to shoot in the first half, and Thanh Hoa threatened their goal 9 times.

In particular, Mamadou Mbodji's shot in the 44th minute helped Thanh Hoa take a 1-0 lead. His header was light but dangerous, flying into the far corner of the goal, causing goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien to jump as far as he could but still could not block it.

In the second half, Hoang Anh Gia Lai tried to regain control of the game and played an open game with Thanh Hoa. Coach Le Quang Trai's team had the ball in the net twice but both goals were not recognized.

Right in the last minute of extra time (90+10), from a free kick from his teammate, defender Dinh Quang Kiet rushed up and cushioned the ball close to the goal, leaving Thanh Hoa goalkeeper Trinh Xuan Hoang helpless, bringing home the equalizer 1-1.

With this draw, Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Thanh Hoa are in 11th and 12th place respectively (out of 14 teams) with 8 points and 1 match left to play. This result made the coaching staff of the mountain town team celebrate wildly.

Defender Dinh Quang Kiet shared: "This is a memory I will remember forever as it is the first goal in my career in V-League. We played bravely to get this equalizer. This is a worthy result."

After this match, Quang Kiet will go to Hanoi to join the U22 Vietnam team to prepare to go to China for training before the 33rd SEA Games.

He shared: "This goal will be a stepping stone for me to try harder in competing for a spot in the SEA Games. I am very excited and will try to participate in this tournament."
