Vietnam team finalizes 30 players to play Hong Kong

Hanoi coach Philippe Troussier dropped four names and promoted four U23 players to the Vietnam national team for a friendly match on June 15.

The four players eliminated were defender Adriano Schmidt (Binh Dinh), Nguyen Thanh Chung (Hanoi FC), Nguyen Trong Long (Hanoi Police) and Le Pham Thanh Long ( Thanh Hoa ). Of these, Thanh Chung suffered from digestive disorders before joining the national team so he was not physically fit, while Trong Long suffered from a muscle injury. These four names also ended the training session and returned to their clubs to practice.

Previously, the team said goodbye to two players due to injury: goalkeeper Tran Nguyen Manh and defender Nguyen Phong Hong Duy of Nam Dinh .

Coach Philippe Troussier promoted four players from the U23 Vietnam team who he said had performed excellently in recent times to the first team. These include defender Phan Tuan Tai, midfielders Hoang Van Toan, Khuat Van Khang and striker Nguyen Van Tung.

Three players playing abroad, including Cong Phuong, Quang Hai and Van Toan, are also on the list. Coach Troussier wants to make full use of the FIFA break time so that the three players can get better acquainted with the playing style being built.

The list also has many names that are rarely on the shortlist, such as two goalkeepers Tran Minh Toan and Dinh Trieu, defender Bui Tien Dung, midfielders Truong Tien Anh, Bui Van Duc, Lam Ti Phong, and striker Dinh Thanh Binh.

The Vietnamese team will practice behind closed doors this afternoon, June 12, before moving to Hai Phong tomorrow morning, June 13. The team will practice three sessions before playing a friendly match with Hong Kong on the evening of June 15 at Lach Tray Stadium.

In addition to these 30 players, the remaining group will continue to practice at the VFF Youth Football Training Center in My Dinh, Hanoi to prepare for the friendly match with the Hanoi Police Club on the afternoon of June 14.
