Japan U17 has announced the list of 23 players who will participate in the 2023 AFC U17 Championship. Among them are a number of players from high school teams.
Coach Yoshiro Moriyama has just announced the list of Japan U17 team that will participate in the 2023 AFC U17 Championship, a tournament where this young team will compete with Vietnam U17.
According to this list, there are 4 faces from high school teams including Yumeki Yoshinaga, Gaku Nawata (Kamimura Gakuen school), Rento Takaoka (Nissho school) and Gota Yamaguchi (Shohei school).
In addition, the remaining players come from the youth teams of famous clubs in Japan such as FC Tokyo, Gamba Osaka or Yokohama F. Marinos. Notably, goalkeeper Wataru Goto has been included in FC Tokyo's J-League registration list.
The Japanese U17 team will train domestically until June 11 before moving to Thailand to compete in the 2023 AFC U17 Championship. In this tournament, Japan U17 will be in the same group as Vietnam U17, India U17 and Uzbekistan U17. The match between Vietnam U17 and Japan U17 will take place at 5:00 p.m. on June 20 at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok.
The 2023 AFC U17 Championship will also serve as the qualifying round for the 2023 U17 World Cup. The four semi-finalists in Thailand will represent Asia at the 2023 U17 World Cup./.
