7 Vietnamese football teams won tickets to the final round of Asian football tournaments in 2025, including U17 Vietnam, U23 Vietnam, Vietnam women's football team, U20 women's team, U17 women's team, Vietnam men's futsal team, and Vietnam women's futsal team.

This is a new record for Vietnamese football. More importantly, across Asia, only Japan is the football nation that has ever achieved this feat.
Not only that, all of the above Vietnamese football teams ended their respective Asian qualifying campaigns undefeated.
Even, except for the men's and women's futsal teams, all the remaining teams, including Vietnam U23, Vietnam U17, women's football team, women's U20 team and women's U17 team, all passed the qualifying round without conceding a goal.

Most recently, the Vietnam U17 team ended the Asian qualifying campaign yesterday (November 30), with a record of 5 wins, achieving 15 absolute points, scoring 30 goals and not conceding any.
The above figures show that Vietnamese football has been making fundamental progress in recent years, both in depth (national team level to youth teams) and breadth (men's football, women's football, futsal).
This is something that not many football teams in Southeast Asia can do. In all fairness, if the teams from the national team level to the youth teams of Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia did not massively use naturalized players from Europe, South America and North America, the representatives of these football teams would not be opponents of the Vietnamese teams.
Vietnam men's football team is the reigning AFF Cup champion, the reigning U23 Southeast Asian champion, and the leading candidate for the gold medal in men's football at the 33rd SEA Games.
