U22 Indonesia finalizes list to attend SEA Games 32: Ronaldo is absent

In the squad attending the 32nd SEA Games, U22 Indonesia has many familiar faces who attended the tournament in Vietnam last year such as Ernando Ari, center back Rizky Ridho, full backs Pratama Arhan, Alfeandra Dewangga, midfielders Marselino Ferdinan and Witan Sulaeman.

Notably, attacking star Ronaldo Kwateh was left out of the squad due to injury in the recent friendly match against Lebanon. In addition, center-back Elkan Baggott was also absent because his club did not allow it. Baggott is currently playing for Cheltenham Town in England. The 20-year-old is one of the pillars of the U22 Indonesia team. The absence of Baggott could greatly affect coach Indra Sjafri's plans.

However, U22 Indonesia is still a formidable opponent in the upcoming tournament. They have many young players who have proven their ability at the U16-U19 levels such as Beckham Putra, Muhammad Ferarri, and the twins Bagus Kahfi - Bagas Kaffa.

Currently, coach Indra Sjafri cannot call up Pratama Arhan because he is busy playing for Tokyo Verdy in Japan (J.League 2). He only joined the team a few days before the tournament started.

Sharing when the list was announced, the President of the Indonesian Football Federation shared: "Those who were eliminated are not because they are not excellent. They are still the future of Indonesian football. However, this is a mandatory choice. We have chosen the best people at the moment and are ready for the 32nd SEA Games. The whole team will leave for Cambodia on April 25."

At the 32nd SEA Games, U22 Indonesia is in Group A with U22 Timor Leste, Philippines, Myanmar and host Cambodia. This group will start from April 29. The goal of the team from the archipelago is to conquer the gold medal of the Games.
