The UAE brokered the exchange of 300 prisoners between Russia and Ukraine.

According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in the Middle East, in a significant step towards humanitarian reconciliation efforts, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has successfully brokered a large-scale prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine.

150 prisoners from each side were safely exchanged on February 5th. This is considered the 12th significant success in the UAE's reconciliation efforts since the beginning of 2024.

To date, the total number of prisoners exchanged between the two sides through the mediation of the UAE has reached 2,883.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed satisfaction with the cooperative spirit of both Russia and Ukraine in this process. The UAE affirmed its commitment to continue efforts to find a peaceful solution to the Ukraine conflict.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared images on social media of Ukrainian prisoners captured in Mariupol and the Zaporizhzhia region.

He also extended special thanks to the UAE for its tireless efforts in helping Ukrainian citizens return home.
