Recognizing that the application of science and technology to production is an inevitable trend that helps agricultural production develop significantly, in recent years, Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province have focused on developing models for applying science and technology.
Mr. Pham Van Tuan, owner of Nam Duong Cordyceps cultivation and distribution facility in Zone 3, Van Phu Ward, Viet Tri City, actively applies technology to production.
The Provincial Farmers' Association currently has over 200,000 members. To help members improve product quality and achieve higher economic efficiency, the Association regularly encourages members to apply science and technology to production. In 2024, the Farmers' Associations at all levels coordinated with the Department of Agriculture to organize training courses on the transfer and application of scientific and technological advancements in crop cultivation, livestock farming, and aquaculture for over 54,000 cadres, members, and farmers; and established 209 agricultural production models applying scientific and technological advancements.
In addition, they supplied over 155 tons of seeds, 2.65 tons of pesticides, 2,174 tons of various types of animal feed, and 164 agricultural machines with a total value of 25 billion VND. They also coordinated with Lam Thao Superphosphate and Chemical Joint Stock Company to supply over 7,700 tons of NPK fertilizer on deferred payment terms, totaling over 54.7 billion VND; and provided transportation cost support to 5 districts (Thanh Son, Tan Son, Yen Lap, Thanh Thuy, and Doan Hung) worth 474 million VND.
The organization implemented two provincial-level science and technology projects: "Building a model for linking the consumption of OCOP products and agricultural products for members of the Farmers' Association in Phu Tho province" and a grassroots-level project: "Designing and upgrading the website of the Phu Tho Provincial Farmers' Association".
Comrade Dang Viet Anh - Head of the Economic and Social Affairs Committee of the Provincial Farmers' Association, said: The Provincial Farmers' Association has directed grassroots Farmers' Associations to propagate, mobilize, and guide members to change their mindset and apply scientific and technological advancements to production, improving product quality. To date, several models implemented by members in the province have successfully applied science and technology to production, livestock farming, and crop cultivation, meeting market demands and yielding positive results, such as greenhouse and net house technology, water-saving irrigation technology, river fish farming in ponds, cultivation and production processes according to VietGAP standards, and livestock farming following biosafety guidelines...
In 2020, Mr. Pham Van Tuan, residing in Zone 3, Van Phu Ward, Viet Tri City – the owner of Nam Duong Cordyceps cultivation and distribution facility – boldly implemented a high-tech Cordyceps cultivation model on a scale of over 200m² . He invested in installing a sterile room, cold room, mushroom inoculation room, and necessary equipment for Cordyceps cultivation such as shakers, autoclaves, freeze-dryers, air conditioners, cultivation racks, etc., with an initial cost of over 1 billion VND. Mr. Tuan shared: “Initially, I faced many difficulties in cultivating Cordyceps, with many mushrooms spoiling, but I remained determined to learn from experience. My wife and I encouraged each other to overcome the difficulties, and now the model is stable, bringing in nearly 800 million VND per year for the family.”
The achievements create favorable conditions for all levels of the Farmers' Association to continue to propagate and encourage members to apply science and technology to agricultural development, helping to increase productivity, reduce labor costs, thereby contributing to improving the lives and incomes of farmers and ensuring sustainable agricultural development.
