V-League 2024-2025 ended on the evening of June 22 after more than 8 months of competition across the country, with 182 matches.
Despite a fairly successful season, the 2024-2025 V-League still showed a decrease in the number of goals and spectators; while the number of penalty cards increased more than the 2023-2024 season.
Goals and cards are inversely proportional.
Specifically, V-League 2024-2025 has a total of 449 goals scored (average 2.47 goals/match). The total number of yellow cards is 691 cards (average 3.80 yellow cards/match), red cards is 46 cards (average 0.25 red cards/match).
Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club is the team that received the most yellow cards with 65 cards, along with 4 red cards. But the team that received the most red cards is Cong An Ha Noi Club: 6 red cards and 57 yellow cards.
And finally, the total number of spectators coming to the stadium for the whole season was 945,000 people (average 5,192 people/match). In which, the most crowded match was the Nam Dinh - Hong Linh Ha Tinh match in the final round with 25,000 people coming to Thien Truong Stadium to watch coach Vu Hong Viet and his team receive the championship trophy.
Meanwhile, the total number of goals in V-League 2023-2024 is 491 (average 2.70 goals/match). The number of yellow cards is 645 (average 3.66 cards/match), red cards is 29 (average 0.17 cards/match). The total audience is 1,072,000 people (average 5,890 people/match).

The class of Nam Dinh Club
Last season, with the "goal machine" Rafaelson Fernandes (not yet naturalized under the name Nguyen Xuan Son), Nam Dinh Club won the championship and was only 6 points behind the second-placed team Quy Nhon Binh Dinh.
This season, despite losing Xuan Son after the first 7 matches, Nam Dinh Club still successfully defended the championship, 8 points ahead of second-placed Hanoi. Coach Vu Hong Viet and his team's achievements are even more impressive than last season when they were the team with the fewest losses (3 matches) and conceded the fewest goals (18 goals after 26 matches).
With 2 consecutive championship seasons, Nam Dinh Club is the 5th team in V-League to do this after Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Dong Tam Long An, B.Binh Duong and Hanoi.
Runner-up relegated
Hardly anyone expected that the current runner-up Quy Nhon Binh Dinh would be relegated this season. Because in most of the tournament, SHB Da Nang was the team at the bottom of the table. Even after the first leg, Quy Nhon Binh Dinh Club was still ranked 11th out of 14 teams, 5 points ahead of the Han River team despite losing 1-2 at Quy Nhon Stadium.
However, the defeat against SHB Da Nang and a series of other opponents competing for relegation in the second leg made coach Bui Doan Quang Huy (later Tran Minh Chien) and his team pay the price.

"Dark horse" Hong Linh Ha Tinh
Having to play in the play-off match to stay in the league last season, Hong Linh Ha Tinh Club caused a big surprise in this year's tournament when they were the only team unbeaten in the first leg (3 wins and 10 draws).
In addition, coach Nguyen Thanh Cong and his team also usurped Song Lam Nghe An to become the team with the most draws in a season with 15 matches, 1 match more than the Nghe team in the 2012 season.
If there were no unexpected losses or draws at the end of the tournament against relegation rivals such as Song Lam Nghe An 0-1, Quang Nam 0-2 and SHB Da Nang 2-2, Hong Linh Ha Tinh Club could have won a medal instead of finishing 5th overall.
Coach "grinding" season
This year's season has seen many changes in the coaching benches of the clubs. B.Binh Duong is the team that has changed the most coaches, replacing coach Hoang Anh Tuan with assistant Nguyen Cong Manh before bringing in former player Nguyen Anh Duc near the end of the tournament.
Similarly, SHB Da Nang Club. Saying goodbye to Technical Director Truong Viet Hoang and Coach Dao Quang Hung after round 9, the Han River team appointed former player Cristiano Roland as head coach along with Technical Director Phan Thanh Hung. But then, SHB Da Nang Club replaced coach Cristiano Roland with Le Duc Tuan.
Hanoi FC also replaced coach Le Duc Tuan with Japanese coach Makoto Teguramori. Thanh Hoa FC replaced coach Velizar Popov with coach Tomislav Steinbruckner. The Cong - Viettel FC also replaced coach Nguyen Duc Thang with coach Velizar Popov.
Quy Nhon Binh Dinh Club also brought coach Tran Minh Chien to lead the team from round 22, and promoted coach Bui Doan Quang Huy to technical director.
VAR covers all football fields
For the first time in history, 7 matches in a round of the 2024-2025 V-League will apply VAR (video assistant referee technology). Even in the first division, VAR has appeared many times in important matches.
Despite the support of VAR, referees still make mistakes. Even referees sitting in the VAR room make mistakes when advising the referee to control the match. Therefore, at the end of the season, Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company was forced to hire more foreign referees to sit in the VAR room.
