HAGL will play on coniferous grass
On the morning of June 23, after the groundbreaking ceremony of HAGL Club, workers actively rolled up their sleeves to get to work, with the first step being to remove equipment on the Pleiku Arena field such as electronic advertising billboards, corner flags, goal frames...
Next, the layer of ginger grass that had existed for many years on the football field built before 1975 was peeled off. According to Thanh Nien Newspaper, quite a few fans of the mountain town football team were present and asked for patches of grass to bring home and plant as souvenirs.
This marks the first time since it was built before 1975 that Pleiku Arena will say goodbye to its traditional ginger grass surface, to be covered with coniferous grass in line with the trend of modern football. This is also what HAGL fans have longed for.

HAGL Club CEO Nguyen Tan Anh shared: "Immediately after the last match of V-League 2024 - 2025, which was a 3-3 draw with Quang Nam Club, we immediately started replacing the grass of Pleiku Arena to ensure it is ready for use before the opening of V-League 2025 - 2026 on August 15.
Minh Vuong leaves: Where is the golden generation of HAGL now?
Pleiku Arena has a grass field planted before liberation, more than 50 years old, a very durable local grass. But HAGL's playing style is passing technique, if there is a coniferous grass field, the coordination will be faster and smoother. This is the general trend of modernization of international football and V-League.
In the immediate future, HAGL Club will renovate Pleiku Arena and a training ground for the first team in Ham Rong to see if the soil is suitable and at the same time ensure the training of the HAGL team as well as nearly 200 athletes of the youth teams.

If the evaluation results of the new grass type show that it is adaptable and has the required durability, we will continue to do it in a rolling manner, to ensure that it does not affect the training of nearly 200 players from U.13 to U.21 as well as the HAGL first team."
The fact that many fans came to ask for the old grass to bring back and plant in their gardens as souvenirs shows the affection of the people for the football field and the HAGL team, so that when sipping a cup of coffee in the garden, they can recall the beautiful football emotions imprinted on this over 50-year-old grass field.
