This also clearly demonstrates PV Power's capabilities and Petrovietnam 's long-term vision in developing LNG power plants. The project's success not only solves the energy security problem but also lays the foundation for Vietnam to enter a modern, clean, and sustainable era of gas-fired power.
Vietnam's first complete linkage model.
The Thi Vai – Nhon Trach gas-to-electricity chain is a modern LNG gas-to-power linkage model, built synchronously from receiving, storing, and regasifying at the Thi Vai LNG terminal to transporting gas and generating electricity at the Nhon Trach center. Within this linkage structure, NT3&4, invested in by Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation (PV Power), plays a key role, being where LNG is converted into high-efficiency electricity, directly contributing to the national power grid. With a capacity of 1,624 MW and an expected output of over 9 billion kWh/year, NT3&4 is a crucial link determining the efficiency of the entire chain, as its operating technology, power generation efficiency, and reliability directly reflect the system's optimal LNG utilization capabilities.
The synchronized completion from input to output not only ensures stability and flexibility in operation but also creates a model for the LNG power plants that Petrovietnam aims to develop in the future. NT3&4 is therefore more than just a connection point.

NMD NT3&4 Project
PV Power affirms its role as project owner – a solid foundation for new progress.
PV Power's undertaking of Vietnam's first LNG project marked the company's maturation, transitioning from operating traditional power plants to mastering next-generation gas turbine technology, modern combined-cycle control and operation systems, meeting international environmental, safety, and social standards, while also securing nearly $1 billion in foreign loans without government guarantees.
The success of NT3&4 therefore goes beyond simply completing a large-scale project; it also affirms PV Power's capabilities and foundation for developing large-scale LNG power projects in the future. The project contributes to strengthening the stable base power supply, adding over 9 billion kWh annually to the system, reducing load pressure in the Southern region, and cutting CO₂ emissions thanks to its high efficiency and use of clean fuel. Bringing the two plants into operation also opens up the Vietnamese LNG market, creating momentum to attract investment and laying the groundwork for Petrovietnam to establish modern LNG power centers in subsequent phases.

Thanks to its central location in the Thi Vai – Nhon Trach LNG chain, NT3&4 has become a symbol of a strategic shift in Vietnam's energy sector. With these values, the project not only adds a new and efficient power source but also lays the foundation for Vietnam's LNG era, making a practical contribution to ensuring energy security and promoting the transition to a green, clean, and sustainable energy environment.
