Jailed for avenging his wife with a knife

On the morning of July 26, the People's Court of Khanh Hoa province sentenced defendant Le Quang Hao (born in 1996, residing in Xuan Son commune, Van Ninh district) to 17 years in prison for murder, continuing to compensate 180 million VND to the victim's family and providing 2 million VND/month for the victim's child.

According to the indictment, Hao and his wife lived at his wife's house. Nguyen Van Hung lived near Hao's wife's house. Hao's wife suspected Hung of stealing coconuts from her house, so there was a conflict.

On the evening of February 5, 2023, Hao and his wife came home from a walk and met Hung walking. Hao's wife stopped to talk to Hung about suspecting Hung of stealing coconuts, while Hao went home first. While talking, Hung hit Hao's wife on the head. Hao's wife ran back and told Hao about being beaten by Hung. Hao then brought a knife to meet Hung and asked why he hit his wife. Hung did not answer but used his hand to hit Hao in the face. Hao pulled out a knife and stabbed Hung once in the chest, then turned himself in. Hung was taken to the emergency room but later died.

After committing the crime, the defendant compensated nearly 123 million VND to the victim's family.
