October marks the beginning of the autumn leaf season - one of the peak seasons favored by global tourists in Japan. According to a newly released report by JNTO, the number of international visitors to Japan this month reached more than 3.89 million, an increase of 17.6% over the same period last year and the highest level ever recorded for October. In particular, the Vietnamese market continues to maintain a steady growth momentum.

In particular, the number of Vietnamese visitors to Japan in October 2025 reached 53,200, an increase of 4.4% compared to October 2024. This is the highest level of the Vietnamese market in October, despite the context of a somewhat stagnant international travel demand of Vietnamese people.
In the first 10 months of 2025, the total number of Vietnamese visitors to Japan reached 583,000, an increase of nearly 10% over the same period in 2024. Vietnam continues to be in the group of Southeast Asian markets with good growth, along with Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.

The key factor that helped the Vietnamese market grow in October was the expansion of air transport capacity between the two countries. Since the beginning of the month, many new routes or increased frequencies have been deployed, including Hanoi - Hiroshima; Hanoi - Chubu; Ho Chi Minh City - Izumo (charter); Hanoi - Fukushima (charter)
JNTO also noted that the Vietnamese market includes a large proportion of students, technical interns and short-term workers. Therefore, the statistics reflect not only pure tourists but also long-term visitors returning to Japan for training and work.

The scene of the train taking tourists through the brilliant yellow cypress forest of Akasawa in Nagono province makes everyone feel moved and admire the gentle beauty of autumn here.
In addition to the aviation factor, the continued low yen in 2025 is also one of the reasons for the strong increase in demand to Japan. Spending on accommodation, food, shopping and tourism services becomes more "comfortable", making Japan maintain a great attraction for Asian tourists.
In October, Japan recorded strong growth from many key markets such as the US, Canada, France, Germany, Spain... In particular, the East Asian market, South Korea and Taiwan all set records in October, while China increased by more than 22%.
November and December are the peak months of the year in Japan. Many winter events, light festivals and end-of-season shopping schedules are expected to continue to attract international visitors, including those from Vietnam.
