Why should people with gallstones not eat fatty foods?

Fatty foods contain a lot of bad cholesterol which is not good for the liver and gallbladder; bile from the liver and gallbladder is not enough to eliminate this fat, over time it will increase the possibility of gallstones forming.

Gallstones are no longer strange to those who are suffering from the severe pain it brings. The disease is caused by many factors, including diet.

Gallstones are formed due to the accumulation of too much cholesterol, causing an imbalance with other components. The stones grow very quickly and directly affect the function of the digestive system.

Dangerous complications of gallstones

Cholecystitis: Gallstones move continuously in the gallbladder, the larger the stones, the higher the level of inflammation. Patients often have high fever and it is difficult to reduce the fever at home.

Cholangitis: The bile duct has stones due to gallstones falling from the gallbladder and blocking the flow of bile to the duodenum. Over time, the bile duct will also become inflamed when large stones dilate the bile duct.

Biliary obstruction: This is a very common complication of gallstones. Because when large stones fill the gallbladder, bile cannot exit, causing biliary obstruction. This is a very dangerous situation, jaundice comes from here.

Gallbladder cancer: The lesions inside the gallbladder increase, and the ability to heal becomes less and less. The gallbladder function declines and can no longer perform its role.

Cirrhosis, liver cancer: Liver function gradually decreases as gallstones get larger. The liver will not be able to eliminate toxins, which is very dangerous, and there is a high possibility that you may get liver cancer.

Why should people with gallstones not eat fatty foods?

Fatty foods contain a lot of bad cholesterol which is not good for the liver and gallbladder. Bile from the liver and gallbladder is not enough to eliminate this fat. Over time, it will increase the possibility of gallstones.

Nowadays, young people love to eat fast food and processed food. But you do not know that these foods contain a lot of bad fat. Fried foods are the same, so you should limit them and eat properly!

In addition, you should also limit alcohol because the liver and gallbladder function is unstable. When you drink alcoholic beverages, it will increase the pressure on the liver, gallbladder and kidneys, so the risk of kidney stones, gallstones and cirrhosis is very high.

People with gallstones, due to chronic irritation of long-term gallstones in the gallbladder, along with bile not being circulated, the gallbladder wall becomes thicker and thicker, the gallbladder's contraction function becomes weaker, if the patient eats foods high in protein and fat, the intestines will secrete more substances that contract the gallbladder, forcing the already diseased gallbladder to work too hard, thereby causing clinical symptoms such as pain, vomiting, fear of fat...

There are cases where gallstones move to the narrow bile duct due to gallbladder contractions, blocking the bile duct, causing bile stagnation, increasing internal bile pressure leading to biliary angina and cholangitis. Through analysis, it can be seen that people with gallstones must limit their intake of foods high in fat and protein.

However, limiting the intake of fatty foods does not mean not eating them at all. If you change the cooking method such as stewing, soup, boiling, steaming... you can still eat them. Patients with gallstones should also eat a little bit of chicken eggs, because chicken eggs do not cause biliary colic, but create the necessary stimulation for the gallbladder, promptly secrete bile, prevent fluid stagnation, and avoid the formation of gallstones.

How to prevent gallstones

Everyone should proactively prevent gallstones and protect their personal health from the risk of dangerous complications, specifically:

- Take the initiative to have regular health check-ups to effectively screen for gallstones.

- Do not fast or apply quick weight loss measures.

- Avoid foods high in saturated fat to reduce the risk of gallstone formation, such as hard cheeses, butter, biscuits and cakes.

- Actively having regular health check-ups helps screen for diseases and early detection of gallstones (if any) for timely treatment and prevention of dangerous complications./.
