Plucking gray hair too much can cause hair to grow thinner, leading to baldness.

Regarding the cause of this condition, experts from the Central Dermatology Institute explained that hair follicles are like factories, with only small limits. The life cycle of this factory is about 10 - 20 hair cycles, each plucking is a cycle. After plucking, the hair follicles in that area have followed the cycle of pigment synthesis disorder or loss of pigment cells, the hair growing in the new cycle is still gray hair, because the new hair growing still comes from this area of depigmented follicles.

That is why many young people wonder why gray hair often grows in certain places even though they have plucked it. More importantly, after a few plucking cycles, the hair follicles lose their function, gradually making the hair thinner. Some people pluck their gray hair and go bald in patches, affecting their appearance.

Therefore, plucking gray hair can be applied in cases where the gray hair is less than 10%. However, considering the hair cycle, gray hair should not be plucked.

Note more about gray hair in young people and children, a doctor from Tam Anh General Hospital said, premature gray hair is a condition where white hair appears due to loss of melanin pigment, interspersed with normal black hair, appearing before the age of 25.

Some common causes of premature gray hair are genetics (the melanin pigment of hair is determined by genes, gene mutations cause premature gray hair. If parents have premature gray hair, it can be passed on to their children); psychological stress due to studying, pressure from parents, playing too many games also accelerates the aging process causing premature gray hair... In addition, cigarette smoke is also one of the factors causing premature gray hair.

According to the Central Dermatology Hospital, most Asians begin to have gray hair at the age of 40, usually starting at the temples and crown; beards and pubic hair usually appear later. By the age of 50, about 20% of people have half of their head gray.

Hair dyeing is the most popular method today for people with a lot of gray hair. However, some dyes have the risk of causing contact dermatitis or can increase the risk of some types of cancer if used regularly.
