Could you please tell us the meaning and purpose of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh 's working trip to attend the WEF Tianjin 2025 Conference?
At the invitation of Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang and President and CEO of the World Economic Forum Borge Brende, on June 24, 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend the 16th Annual Pioneers Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) and work in China.
WEF Tianjin 2025 is an important, large-scale event of the World Economic Forum, considered a forum for "pioneers", to evaluate and discuss new trends and major issues facing the global economy, promote international cooperation, especially public-private cooperation contributing to economic growth and sustainable development.
With the theme “Entrepreneurship in a New Era”, the WEF Tianjin 2025 focuses on five main topics: World economy and new growth trends; China’s economic outlook; Industrial transformation, smart manufacturing; Investing in people and the planet; Energy and new materials. These are major issues facing the world today, and are also issues of great concern to the international community in the context of a very complicated world situation, with the world economy facing more risks and challenges than previously forecast.
The working trip of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend the WEF Tianjin Conference is of great significance. This is the third consecutive year that Vietnam has been invited by the host country China and the World Economic Forum to attend the forum of "pioneers". This affirms China's importance to the Vietnam - China Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership, the international community's appreciation of Vietnam's development achievements, strategic development orientations as well as its potential, position and international prestige. The management of the Government and the Prime Minister as well as the important contributions, demonstrating the Prime Minister's strategic thinking and vision at the WEF Conferences over the past three years have also left a deep impression on the international community, especially the World Economic Forum and its member businesses.
With that meaning, first of all, the Prime Minister's participation at this year's WEF Tianjin Conference demonstrates Vietnam's respect and strong support for the host country China, thereby contributing to continuing to promote the extremely good development momentum of the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.
Second, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's attendance at the WEF Tianjin Conference is an important opportunity for Vietnam to continue to proactively participate, contribute, and promote solutions to economic and development issues in the region and the world, thereby continuing to affirm Vietnam's international position and prestige.
Third, the Prime Minister's participation at a major WEF Conference is also important in conveying to the international community messages about Vietnam's goals, visions, and development orientations, especially Vietnam's major policies to enter a new era of development.
Fourthly, the Prime Minister will also have many meetings and dialogues with leaders of countries, international organizations, and leading corporations to promote economic cooperation, expand and diversify export markets, attract investment, promote cooperation in new strategic areas, and maximize resources to serve the implementation of national growth and development goals.
Could you please tell us about the significance, purpose and expectations for Vietnam - China relations during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's working trip to China this time?
In the context of the strong, comprehensive and substantive development of the relations between the two Parties and countries, taking place at a time when the two countries are actively implementing diverse and rich activities in the Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year 2025 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's working trip to China is of great significance.
First of all, the Prime Minister's working trip is an important step in implementing Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification, continuing to affirm that the Party, Government and people of Vietnam always attach importance to and give top priority to building and developing good relations with the Party, Government and people of China, for the fundamental and long-term interests of the people of the two countries, for peace, cooperation and development of the world and the region.
Second, the working trip will promote the effective and substantive implementation of the high-level agreements reached in the past, especially the State visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam (August 2024), and the State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping (April 2025). Thereby, the visit will contribute to further promoting and deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.
Third, the two sides' senior leaders will discuss important measures to promote new developments in strategic cooperation areas such as science and technology, innovation, strategic infrastructure, railway connectivity, finance and currency, improving the quality and effectiveness of trade and investment cooperation, border economic cooperation, agricultural products, urban environment, tourism, and training of high-quality human resources. On this occasion, the two sides will also discuss measures to better control and resolve maritime disputes, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, and cooperation in the region.
I believe that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's bilateral working trip to China this time will continue to create a strong impetus for bilateral cooperation, thereby bringing the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the Community of Shared Future of Strategic Significance to continue to develop in an increasingly stable, healthy and sustainable manner.
