The event took place in the context of Decision 1131/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister identifying 11 important strategic technology groups, in which Artificial Intelligence (AI) was ranked number one, affirming the key role of AI in national competitiveness and technological autonomy.
Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman ofFPT Board of Directors, who initiated the establishment of Au Lac AI Alliance, shared that the world is entering the AI era and Vietnam is facing great opportunities to rise up, but at the same time facing three major challenges.
Mr. Binh emphasized: "The Au Lac AI Alliance was born as a solution to these challenges. The AI Alliance is not just an initiative, but a call to arms."

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member and Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, expressed his confidence in Vietnamese intelligence and the desire to build a separate AI model, in the Vietnamese language, to serve the prosperous development of the nation.
"In the new era, we must act immediately - now or never. To stand on the shoulders of giants, our feet must be steady," shared Professor Nguyen Xuan Thang.
Au Lac AI Alliance was established with core purposes:
- Develop large language models (LLMs) capable of processing Vietnamese accurately, naturally, and in accordance with Vietnamese culture and identity, thereby improving people's knowledge and promoting national economic development.
- Building an open and transparent AI community where all individuals, organizations and businesses can freely access and use the Alliance's public assets (including source code, data and models), including for commercial purposes, to stimulate innovation and widespread AI application, realizing national AI sovereignty.
- Develop AI products that are safe, responsible, and comply with Vietnamese ethical standards and laws.
- The Alliance's operations are based on three main principles: Consensus - Respect - Open Community.
The alliance will focus on three main areas, including:
Research and development: Focus on developing Vietnamese LLM and building an open AI community;
Developing AI policies and standards: Contribute to policies, standards, and codes of practice to ensure safe, responsible AI;
Training: Organize activities to raise awareness, knowledge and skills about AI for the community
Right at the Launching Ceremony, Au Lac AI Alliance proposed developing a large Vietnamese language model - Au Lac LLM as a foundation for AI applications.
At the same time, FPT also announced the plan to develop the VietGPT product - a virtual assistant dedicated to every Vietnamese citizen. VietGPT is expected to deeply understand Vietnamese culture, society, language and thinking, meeting the learning needs, improving productivity and work quality of Vietnamese people at a reasonable cost.
The establishment of the Au Lac AI Alliance marks a turning point in the journey of developing artificial intelligence in Vietnam. This initiative opens up expectations for a future where technology is practically applied for the community and closely linked to national interests.
This is also a step to affirm Vietnam's position, independence, and sovereignty on the global technology map, similar to the national AI strategy that about 70 countries around the world are building.
The first members to join the Alliance are leading technology units and technology startups, along with prestigious academies and universities, including: Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, MobiFone, VNPT, FPT, CMC, BKAV, Misa, MoMo, VNPAY, Zalo, AI For Vietnam, AI Hay, N2TP, Finhay, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, Academy of Cryptography Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, Ton Duc Thang University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, FPT University.
