Vietnam-Kazakhstan promote cultural and sports cooperation worthy of strategic partnership

Within the framework of the State visit to Kazakhstan by General Secretary To Lam and his wife, on May 6, 2025 in Astana, Kazakhstan, under the witness of General Secretary To Lam and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, ministries and branches exchanged many signed documents, including international agreements on culture and sports.

The Memorandum of Understanding on cultural cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan for the period 2025-2027 was signed by Minister Nguyen Van Hung and Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva; the Memorandum of Understanding on sports cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan was signed by Minister Nguyen Van Hung and Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan Yerbol Myrzabossynov.

Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung and Kazakhstan's Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cultural cooperation for the period 2025 - 2027.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural Cooperation, the two sides prioritize coordination to promote the organization of cultural and artistic programs, especially the Vietnam Cultural Day in Kazakhstan and the Kazakhstan Cultural Day in Vietnam.

In order to enhance cultural exchange and cooperation between Vietnam and Kazakhstan in the 2025-2027 period, the two sides agreed on a plan to implement many cultural exchange programs and activities, promote the establishment of direct relations between the agencies and film companies of the two countries, encourage the organization of screenings of Vietnamese and Kazakh films, as well as participation in international film festivals held in each country; strengthen the development of cooperation in the field of performing arts and exchange of art troupes; encourage participation in international cultural and art festivals held in Vietnam and Kazakhstan; support the development of cooperation in the fields of visual arts, photography and exhibitions; exchange information, promote the value of cultural heritages and natural heritages of the two countries; Establish direct relations between libraries, museums, cultural and artistic training institutions of the two countries, promote cooperation in training high-quality human resources in the fields of culture and art, strengthen cooperation between cultural and artistic research institutes of the two sides...

Implementing the Memorandum of Understanding on cultural cooperation right after the signing, welcoming the State visit to Kazakhstan of General Secretary To Lam and his wife, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan jointly organized the Vietnam-Kazakhstan Friendship Concert at the Astana Opera and Ballet Theater with performances by artists from the Vietnam National Academy of Music and Kazakh artists.

According to the agreement between the two sides, in 2026, the two sides will coordinate to organize Kazakhstan Culture Day in Vietnam with art performances and exhibitions to introduce Kazakhstan's unique culture to the Vietnamese public.

In the Memorandum of Understanding on Sports Cooperation, the two sides pledged to facilitate and support the development of cooperation in each country's strong sports such as weightlifting, wrestling, boxing, vovinam, and traditional martial arts, while cooperating to support athletes, coaches and sports organizers to participate in competitions, training and other events held in each country, as well as establishing direct relations between sports federations and national sports organizations of the two countries.

Along with that, the two sides will exchange information on sports events held in each country; strategic programs, scientific methodological information on entertainment issues for people through sports; the latest achievements in the field of high-performance sports, sports medicine diagnosis, biomedical support methods and the use of modern scientific equipment in high-performance sports training; experience in the field of sports infrastructure management. Coordinating the implementation of measures to prevent the use of doping in competitions, training and education of athletes is also an area of ​​mutual interest for both sides, affirming to promote cooperation.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam Nguyen Van Hung and Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan Yerbol Myrzabossynov signed a Memorandum of Understanding on sports cooperation.

The Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural Cooperation for the 2025-2027 period and the Memorandum of Understanding on Sports Cooperation signed continue to be the legal basis for the two sides to strengthen cultural and sports exchanges, creating momentum for developing cooperation in these fields worthy of the Vietnam-Kazakhstan strategic partnership.

The signing of cooperation documents and the organization of the Vietnam-Kazakhstan friendship concert in Astana concretize the implementation of the Joint Statement on upgrading Vietnam-Kazakhstan relations to a strategic partnership, contributing to the overall success of the State visit to Kazakhstan by General Secretary To Lam - the first visit by the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam to Kazakhstan in more than 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The historic visit deepens and further comprehensively enhances the bilateral relations between Vietnam and Kazakhstan, demonstrating the importance and consistent policy of the Party and State of Vietnam in strengthening the friendship and comprehensive cooperation with traditional friendly countries in the Central Asian region./.
