Kinhtedothi - In the face of a series of "shocking" policies from the US, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that Vietnam is ready to dialogue, protect bilateral interests and promote the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

US cuts foreign aid
In response to information about the US cutting off foreign aid, including aid for the clearance of bombs and explosives left over from the war in Vietnam, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said:
“We are very interested in the decisions from the US side regarding the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Over the years, through various mechanisms and forms of cooperation, including USAID, the two countries have cooperated very effectively in many areas, including health , environment, climate change, disaster relief, and especially cooperation in overcoming the consequences of war.”
According to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, US aid projects have been effective in many provinces and cities across Vietnam, bringing a better life to the people who benefit from those projects. The suspension of USAID support projects, especially those on clearing bombs and explosives left over from the war, the Bien Hoa airport detoxification project, etc., will have a strong impact on human safety and the environment in the areas where the projects take place.
Ms. Pham Thu Hang also said that in recent times, the US's support and Vietnam's cooperation in searching for US soldiers missing in action during the war have been of practical significance, contributing to strengthening the friendship between the people of the two countries, consolidating trust and building good relations between Vietnam and the US. In the context of the two countries celebrating the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, this support has a special significance.
“In the coming time, Vietnam hopes to work with the US to substantially and effectively implement these cooperation activities, contributing to the stable and long-term development of the bilateral relationship, in accordance with the spirit of the Joint Statement on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace, Cooperation and Sustainable Development,” the Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized.

“On the basis of the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development between Vietnam and the US, Vietnam has been closely coordinating with the US to maintain the positive momentum of bilateral relations. In fact, in recent times, trade and investment between the two countries have developed very well, meeting the aspirations and interests of the governments and peoples of the two countries."
Ms. Pham Thu Hang expressed her hope that in the coming time, Vietnam is ready to exchange and work in a constructive and cooperative spirit with the US side to share information, enhance understanding, and remove existing obstacles to contribute to the stable and sustainable development of bilateral economic relations and meet the interests of both sides.
Coordination work to receive citizens deported by the US
Regarding how Vietnam coordinates with the US in response to US President Donald Trump's decision to deport illegal immigrants, including Vietnamese people, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated:
"Vietnam is ready to cooperate closely with the US on the repatriation of citizens on the basis of the signed treaty, hoping that the US will create favorable conditions for Vietnamese citizens to reside, so that they can contribute to the prosperous development of the US and develop the Vietnam-US comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development."
According to Ms. Pham Thu Hang, Vietnam supports and creates conditions for its citizens to live, work and study abroad on the basis of complying with the laws of Vietnam, the host country and international law.
"We hope the US will continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese people in the US to integrate, contribute to the prosperous development of the US and contribute to the development of bilateral relations," said the Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
Vietnam prepares for trade war scenario
Responding to press questions about Vietnam's preparations for a trade war scenario, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated:
"As an economy with high openness and increasingly deep integration into the world economy, Vietnam always pays attention to and closely monitors the international situation to take appropriate measures, minimize impacts on the economy, and at the same time contribute to the healthy development of international trade."
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also affirmed that Vietnam is committed to strictly complying with international legal mechanisms, bilateral and multilateral trade commitments, enhancing international cooperation to build institutions, improve capacity, continue to promote trade liberalization, and contribute to the healthy growth of the economy.
Regarding what solutions Vietnam has when many foreign businesses operating in Vietnam are worried about the decisions of the US government, Ms. Pham Thu Hang said that Vietnam understands all these concerns, and reiterated her commitment: "Vietnam is ready and will continue to exchange and work in a constructive spirit, cooperating with the US to share information, strengthen cooperation and remove existing obstacles, so that bilateral economic and trade relations can develop further."
"For foreign enterprises investing and doing business in Vietnam, we continue to have simplified regulations, creating a favorable business environment so that foreign enterprises can feel secure doing business in Vietnam," the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
