Ms. Nguyen Thuy Huyen - Director of Trade and Investment of Queensland, Australia in Vietnam shared at the seminar, "Statistics on the output of Australian beef imported into Vietnam in recent years demonstrate the great demand of the Vietnamese market and also demonstrate the trust of Vietnamese consumers in the quality of Australian beef. Currently, Queensland accounts for an average of 81% of the high-quality grain-fed beef exported from Australia. In addition, we have a processing plant that complies with high standards, ensuring that beef exported to Vietnam is safe and of high quality."

Queensland has the soil, climate, and high technology to raise beef cattle for export.

Queensland has favourable conditions for the livestock industry including climate and development policies, large areas of natural pasture, strict environmental management and biodiversity, with particular attention to animal welfare standards and humane slaughter.

In addition, Queensland also applies advanced technology to serve the closed livestock industry, increasing productivity and export value. The technology here includes embryo implantation solutions, gene selection, nutrition planning during the breeding process, the use of robots in packaging and transporting export goods of beef slaughter companies, etc. All of this technology has helped Queensland produce beef at the lowest cost, while also ensuring transparency in the supply chain and traceability of meat - from farm to table.

At the workshop, a representative of the Australian Meat and Livestock Association said that Vietnam's demand for beef imports has increased in recent years due to increased consumer demand. Beef imported from Australia is still preferred in restaurants, hotels, retail, etc. Beef imported from Queensland is affordable, suitable for different customer groups. Importers and distributors of beef from Queensland are committed to reasonable prices, ensuring customer satisfaction.

The Queensland Government continues to have many policies to develop trade cooperation on beef in Vietnam.

In 2022, the Queensland Trade and Investment Office in Vietnam (TIQ Vietnam) organized field visits for domestic beef importing companies to visit cattle farms, abattoirs and beef exporting partners in Queensland.

Queensland beef and veal farms can meet the increasingly diverse needs of Vietnamese customers for red meat such as: providing medium to high quality meat such as wagyu, black angus, organic meat. There are many brands to choose from such as JBS, Kilcoy, Teys, Standbroke, Stockyard, OBE,… have been present in the market with increasing consumption.

Through the workshop, experts with more than 20 years of experience from MSA (Meat Standards Australia) provided training on Australian meat standards, meat grading and meat classification for participating retailers, wholesalers and supermarkets.

On the other hand, Queensland has good transport infrastructure with many large, busy seaports, convenient for transporting livestock and exporting to other countries. The Queensland Government is providing a $200 million support package to open direct flights from Queensland to emerging markets such as Vietnam. "Hopefully in the future, we will soon have direct flights to bring high-quality chilled meat products from Queensland to Vietnam. We have supporting industries for the livestock and slaughter industry: including transporters, economists - agriculturists who help calculate and develop livestock herds, and support companies that import and export and build brands for cows/calves," said a representative of Queensland.

The Queensland Red Meat Seminar, market information updates, and meat processing technical training have opened up many business cooperation opportunities between businesses of the two countries, enhancing competitiveness in the food industry in Vietnam.
