At the end of the competition day on September 27, Vietnamese athletes won 4 more bronze medals at the 2023 Asian Games (ASIAD 19). Including 3 bronze medals in Wushu by Duong Thuy Vi, women's spear and sword fighting, Hua Van Doan in men's 56kg fighting and bronze medal by athlete Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy in women's 60kg. A bronze medal in Taekwondo on the competition day yesterday was won by athlete Bac Thi Khiem in women's 67kg.
This morning (September 28), Pham Quang Huy, Phan Cong Minh and Lai Cong Minh won another bronze medal for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation in the men's 10m air pistol team event with a score of 1,730 points, 3 points behind China and 4 points behind India.
Thus, up to now, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation has won a total of 11 medals at the 19th ASIAD, including 1 silver medal and 10 bronze medals.
While Vietnam has yet to win a gold medal, other Southeast Asian sports delegations are performing impressively. Thailand made a breakthrough in yesterday's competition when they won 4 more gold medals. In total, the Land of the Golden Pagodas won 6 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 8 bronze medals - ranking 5th on the overall table. Indonesia also won 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 7 bronze medals - ranking 8th on the overall table. Singapore also had 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 4 bronze medals, while Malaysia won 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 4 bronze medals.
The Chinese Sports Delegation continued to assert its position as host when firmly holding the No. 1 position on the medal tally of the 19th ASIAD (including 76 gold medals, 43 silver medals and 21 bronze medals). In second place on the tally, the Korean Sports Delegation won 19 gold medals, 18 silver medals and 31 bronze medals. The Japanese Sports Delegation ranked third with 15 gold medals, 27 silver medals and 24 bronze medals.
