Vinicius keeps buying clubs. |
Last year, Vinicius bought Portuguese side Alverca and became a co-owner of the club. Now, he has added Athletic MG, a team playing in Brazil's second division.
Athletic are currently 15th and are hoping to turn their fortunes around after Vinicius promised them heavy investment in the coming months.
The Real Madrid star is comfortable "expanding" his career off the field, despite accusations of violating FIFA's code of ethics.
Tiberis Holding do Brasil filed a complaint with FIFA's Ethics Investigation Chamber on April 7, requesting a ban on Vinicius. The focus of the accusation is Vinicius' alleged involvement in the ownership of professional football clubs through ALL Agenciamento Esportivo, a business run by his father and agent Thassilo Soares.
This is considered a violation of Article 20 of the FIFA Code of Ethics and Article 22 of the RFEF Sports Justice Code, both of which prohibit professional players, directly or indirectly, from owning shares in active football clubs, in order to avoid conflicts of interest.
While FIFA is still reviewing the case, if found guilty, penalties could range from an obligation to sell shares, a fine, to the most severe penalty of a two-year ban.
At Real Madrid, many players have also become club presidents, including Kylian Mbappe who owns French second division club Caen, while Luka Modric is co-owner of Swansea.
