The classic play “Macbeth” will premiere at 8:30 p.m. on March 30, 2024.
(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of March 28, at the City Theater, the City Arts Council reviewed the play "Macbeth", a Hai Phong Television Stage program performed by the Hai Phong Drama Troupe.

“Macbeth” is the shortest tragedy that is believed to have been written by William Shakespeare between 1603 and 1607, based on the legend of King Macbeth of Scotland. The work is a wake-up call for those who do not know how to stop before blind, dark and furious ambitions. The play has dramatic, engaging content, is elaborately and magnificently staged, highlighting the Renaissance stage style, with acting rhythms incorporating the breath of contemporary theater.

The play tells the story of Macbeth, Lord of Glamis, who, together with Banquo, Commander-in-Chief of the Scottish army, led an army to conquer Norway and Ireland. In victory, Macbeth met the witches and the witches prophesied: Macbeth would be Lord of Cawdor, and would later become king. Macbeth secretly eliminated King Duncan and crowned himself King. From a heroic warrior, Macbeth sank deep into his ambition for power and became a brutal evil king, willing to do anything to achieve his goals and ambitions. The bloodbath and civil war quickly drove Macbeth and Lady Macbeth into madness, and death was also the end of the tragedy often seen in William Shakespeare's works...

The play was performed by scriptwriter William Shakespeare, editor Cao Phuong Dung, director Meritorious Artist Bui Nhu Lai, assistant director artist Quang Thien, art designer Ngo Thang, musician The Toan, choreographer Le Phuong, body choreographer Hoang Tung, costume designer Minh Tung, sound designer Quyet Thang, lighting designer Viet Tuan, program manager Hai Phong Drama Troupe Tran Trung Hieu... along with a group of artists, actors Hai Phong Drama Troupe, Youth Theater, Army Drama Theater and a number of professional art troupes in the city. Including: artists Nguyen Tu (as Macbeth), Huyen Sam (as Macbeth's wife), Dai Nghia (as King Duncan), Viet Phap (as Prince Malcom), Anh Khoa (as General Banquo), Quang Thien (as General Macduff), Bich Ngoc (as Macduff's wife)...
At the evaluation program, members of the City Arts Council contributed ideas for the production team to complete the play before broadcasting it live to the city's audience at 8:30 p.m. on March 30; performing (with tickets for sale) according to the City Theater Lighting Plan on the evening of March 31 and April 6 and 7, 2024 at the City Theater.
