House fire at night in Hanoi, police rescue 5 children to escape

Rescue workers brought a child out of a burning house safely.

According to information from Hanoi Police, at around 11:28 p.m. on June 5, the City Police Command Information Center received a report of a fire at a house at No. 29, Lane 1/178 Thai Ha (Dong Da District).

After receiving the news, the Command Information Center dispatched the Dong Da Fire Prevention and Rescue team to the scene to perform their duties.

The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police force promptly brought and guided 2 adults and 5 children down safely.

On the evening of June 5, a fire also broke out at a flower shop at 2 Nguyen Thi Dinh (Cau Giay District). Witnesses at the scene said they saw smoke coming from the house, so they shouted and called the homeowner but to no avail.

"We reported the incident to the ward police and the fire department via phone number 114; at the same time, we broke the door to put out the fire. However, because the outside door was a rolling door, it was very difficult to break the door," the witness recounted.

Neighbors around the store cooperated with the police to use portable fire extinguishers and water to put out the fire but were unsuccessful. The fire burned bright red on the first floor of the store.

Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police force of Cau Giay Area Group mobilized 4 specialized vehicles with officers and soldiers to the scene.

By 11:20 p.m., the fire was under control. Authorities sprayed water to cool the area and inspected the inside of the burned house.

The two fires did not cause any casualties, property damage is being assessed. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
