On the evening of May 1, a Facebook account believed to belong to the male student in the clip posted a public apology. In the post, the person signed as Ngo Nguyen Giap apologized to veterans, teachers, family, and the online community.

"I know that it is too late to say these things, but I still want to speak up and take responsibility for my foolish actions," Giap wrote.

The male student shared that he was born into a family with a revolutionary tradition and was fullyeducated in ethics, but because of haste, personal selfishness and the impact of the weather, he made inappropriate statements, hurting those who sacrificed for the country.

"I respectfully ask that you, the Veterans, the Aunts, Uncles, Brothers and Sisters, be generous in forgiving me so that I have the opportunity to overcome the consequences, continue to study, and strive to become a better, more complete person. This is the most profound lesson in my life. I promise to take full responsibility for my foolish actions and will promptly correct myself to live a better life," Giap expressed.

The male student also pledged to take full responsibility and never repeat the offense.

The post is believed to be from a male student apologizing for his behavior.

Despite his public apology, the wave of criticism against the male student has not cooled down. Many opinions said that there is no reason to justify disrespectful behavior towards the elderly, especially on a sacred occasion like April 30. “History does not teach us to raise our voices to those who sacrificed for the Fatherland,” one social media user commented indignantly.

Another account expressed: “Being born into a revolutionary family but still being able to insult veterans is unacceptable. I hope the school will handle it strictly to preserve moral values in the school environment.”

Many accounts expressed skepticism about the motive of the apology. “ Apologizing a hundred times is still unacceptable. If he really knew he was wrong, he would have spoken up from the beginning instead of waiting until he was so heavily condemned by the online community,” one person wrote.

Some people say that apologies become empty when the behavior is offensive, but only when there is a strong reaction does one turn around and admit the mistake. “Did that veteran use social media to read the apology? Or is the apology only for the online community?”

Some people even say that the article was written using artificial intelligence.

Previously, a clip recording two young men arguing, shouting and demanding a veteran to leave the parade viewing position because he "arrived late but stood in front" went viral on social media platforms. Despite the people around them repeatedly trying to stop them, the two men continued to speak loudly and aggressively.

The clip immediately went viral, attracting more than 2 million views and thousands of shares.

This morning , May 2, Van Lang University held an urgent meeting regarding the incident in which a male student of the school behaved inappropriately and spoke loudly to a veteran.

The university said that the consideration of disciplinary action must be done carefully, because this incident occurred outside the school's scope, so the school also encountered many difficulties. The school is carefully studying the related legal aspects and needs coordination and opinions from competent authorities. When considering disciplinary action against students, there must be a basis and a disciplinary council must be established.

The school is trying to contact the male student and has sent an email inviting him to a meeting.
