Martial artist Dinh Van Tam won the gold medal at the 2024 Asian Wushu Championship

(Baoquangngai.vn)- Martial artist Dinh Van Tam ( Quang Ngai ) won a gold medal at the 2024 Asian Wushu Championship in the 52kg weight class, Sanshou event.

On the afternoon of September 15, in Macau (China), the 2024 Asian Wushu Championship held the final matches in the Sanshou event. Martial artist Dinh Van Tam met Filipino martial artist Arnel Mandal in the 52kg weight class. With his talent, the martial artist from Quang Ngai had a convincing victory in the matches against his opponent to bring home a valuable gold medal for Vietnamese wushu. Dinh Van Tam is one of three athletes of the Vietnamese Wushu team to win gold medals at this tournament.

The 2024 Asian Wushu Championship will take place from September 12 to 15, organized by the Asian Wushu Federation (WFA) in Macau (China). This is a major continental tournament held every four years, gathering the strongest martial artists on the continent in wushu competitions. As a result, Vietnam won a total of 14 medals, ranking 4th out of 16 participating delegations, with 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 9 bronze medals.

Dinh Van Tam (19 years old), from Long Son commune (Minh Long), is the only athlete from Quang Ngai to be honored to join the Vietnam Wushu team competing in the tournament. To prepare for this important tournament, Tam has been practicing hard for many months with high intensity and his efforts have been well rewarded.

Sharing the joy of winning the first gold medal at the Asian Wushu Championship, martial artist Dinh Van Tam happily said that this achievement is a great joy and happiness in his career competing in international wushu competitions. This is a turning point for him to continue to strive and try harder to achieve higher achievements in the upcoming international arena. He would like to thank the coaches for their dedicated teaching and encouragement so that he can have the honor of bringing glory to Vietnam.

Martial artist Dinh Van Tam is one of the brightest "gems" of Vietnamese wushu. This Hre martial artist has continuously achieved outstanding results in domestic and regional competitions.

After 6 years of participating in wushu, Tam has won dozens of gold medals in domestic tournaments; 1 gold medal at the Asian Youth Wushu Championship in Brunei (2019) and a bronze medal at the 8th World Youth Wushu Championship in Indonesia in 2022. In 2023, Tam won a bronze medal in the Sanshou event, 52kg weight class at the World Wushu Championship, held in the US at the end of November 2023.

National Wushu Team Coach Phan Quoc Vinh said that, recognizing the potential and special qualities of martial artist Dinh Van Tam, 3 years ago, the coaching staff selected Tam from the youth team to the National Wushu Team. Tam is intelligent, agile in fighting, and is a promising athlete of the national wushu team. I am sure Tam will go further in the international wushu arena.
