Hanoi A 37-year-old female patient had filler injected into her buttocks, then fluid and pus appeared, the doctor diagnosed it as an infection complication.
The woman said she got the injection at a facility run by an acquaintance, but she did not know what kind of drug she was injected with. Two days after the injection, the patient experienced swelling, heat, redness, and pain in her buttocks, along with signs of infection such as fever. She used antibiotics and fever reducers at home but they did not improve, so she went to the Central Dermatology Hospital for examination.
Here, Dr. Ta Thi Ha Phuong, Department of Plastic Surgery and Rehabilitation, diagnosed the patient with an infection complication after filler injection due to unsterile techniques and use of unsafe products.
The patient underwent surgical incision of the abscess, systemic antibiotic treatment, local care, and psychological support.

Filler injection is a procedure to inject a natural filler compound into the folds and tissues of the face to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and smooth the skin. However, filler injection is only truly safe and effective when performed at specialized medical facilities. Customers who choose unlicensed facilities have a very high risk of complications, which can leave many serious complications.
