The VPF's business performance report for 2024 noted stable financial resources. Projected revenue figures for 2024 were recorded as 113.8% higher than in 2023 and approximately 117.7% higher than the projected revenue plan for 2025.
Financial support for clubs continues to show positive progress. In addition to fixed advertising budgets as in previous years, clubs receive a share of television broadcasting rights revenue based on their league standings, along with other forms of support. The total financial support for the 25 clubs in the 2023-2024 season is nearly 32 billion VND, a 23% increase compared to the 2023 season. Specifically, the television broadcasting rights revenue for the 2023-2024 season increased by 24.8% compared to the previous season.
VPF's projected revenue for 2024 is over 113%.
Furthermore, in 2024, VPF plans to provide an additional 14 billion VND in support to clubs to fund the repair, maintenance, and upgrading of facilities. This is considered a highly practical expenditure in the effort to build the league's image and improve the conditions for organizing the tournament.
In addition, VPF has approved financial support of 300 million VND for the three clubs representing Vietnam in international tournaments, as well as assigning personnel to coordinate the organization of international matches. For each club that advances beyond the group stage, VPF will continue to provide a bonus of 300 million VND, and 200 million VND for each time they advance beyond the knockout round to encourage the clubs. It is expected that the total amount spent could reach 3.9 billion VND depending on the clubs' performance.
In his opening remarks at the congress, VPF President Tran Anh Tu affirmed that 2024 is a year of many historical milestones for national professional football leagues. Looking towards the 25th anniversary of the development of professional football in Vietnam, VPF has been and continues to strive through concrete actions to affirm the maturity and development of professional leagues in general over the past 25 years.
Mr. Tran Anh Tu highly appreciated the achievements of the Vietnamese national professional football leagues.
The foundation for further development in 2025
The financial results for 2024 continue to serve as a foundation for VPF to implement long-term plans in its development strategy, thereby gradually improving the quality of professional football leagues.
In terms of tournament organization, after officially receiving two VAR vehicles from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) as part of a FIFA sponsorship project, the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) has planned to maximize the effectiveness of the VAR vehicles in the 2024-2025 season, striving to have as many matches per round as possible using VAR technology. While in the 2023-2024 season, an average of only 2-3 matches per round used VAR, in the 2024-2025 season, after 9 rounds, VAR has been applied in 5 rounds, covering all matches in each round. The application of VAR technology has received much positive feedback and support, as it helps to make the tournament fairer and reduces refereeing errors.
In 2024, VPF continued to focus on media and television coverage to enhance the image of the league. The promotional video for the LPBank V-League 2024-2025 made a strong impression and generated significant interest by integrating local identity alongside the team colors, evoking national pride and love for traditional Vietnamese cultural values. Television coverage of the tournaments remained consistent, with 100% of matches broadcast live and streamed across multiple platforms, easily accessible to audiences nationwide. Television broadcast quality improved significantly, with viewership figures increasing annually.
National professional football leagues are expected to make further progress in 2025.
The 2024 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders of VPF approved important documents: the Board of Directors' activity report for 2024 and the activity plan for 2025; the projected results report for 2024 and the task plan for 2025; the Supervisory Board's activity report for 2023; and two proposals: a proposal to approve the audited financial statements for 2023; and a proposal on the selection of an auditing firm for the 2024 financial statements.
The Congress also identified the direction and key tasks for 2025 to ensure the successful organization of the 2024-2025 national professional football leagues and to prepare for the 2025-2026 season. In addition, VPF is also striving to coordinate business plans with its partnerFPT Play in exploiting television broadcasting rights and commercial aspects of the leagues, aiming to increase financial revenue for the company and create a stable source of funding for the company's operations in general.
