(QBĐT) - In addition to popular sports such as badminton, table tennis, soccer, volleyball, etc., in recent years, new sports such as folk dance, ballroom dancing, etc. and most recently, Shuffle dance (street dance) have been chosen by many people to practice to improve their health. One of the units that was born early and created a connection to spread the movement of practicing dance, folk dance sports, etc. is the 79 Huu Nghi Sports Dance Center (79 Huu Nghi dance center) with a training location at the Provincial Swimming Pool.

Useful playground

Director of KVTT Center 79 Huu Nghi Hoang Huong Giang said that she learned about dancing when she was a student at Quang Binh Pedagogical College (now Quang Binh University). With the desire to create a fun and healthy playground, the school introduced dancing to teach students in extracurricular activities. After graduating and becoming a teacher, she still spent time practicing sports and cherished the plan to conquer the difficult techniques of KVTT.

After several trips to Ho Chi Minh City to learn this subject from female Dancesport champion Khanh Thi, she made rapid progress and then made her dream of becoming a KVTT coach come true.

The performance of students from KVTT Center 79 Huu Nghi made an impression at Dong Hoi Culture-Tourism Week 2024.

From the desire to spread the KVTT practice movement to many people, she organized technical instruction classes for children, then expanded to folk dance and KVTT classes for adults. After nearly 15 years of operation, going through difficult periods, there were times when there were only 1-2 students, but she still maintained the class and still taught diligently.

Up to now, the center has attracted hundreds of people of all ages to practice with subjects such as: KVTT, Zumba, folk dance, social dance... and most recently, Shuffle dance. This is a continuous dance with rhythmic foot movements on a vibrant, cheerful music background and practitioners can dance in many different versions, such as: Single dance, double dance, group dance... When mastering the basic techniques, practitioners can harmoniously combine their hands and feet with the flexibility of their bodies to create free and unique dances.

Shuffle dance instructor Nguyen Thi Hai Yen of KVTT Center 79 Huu Nghi shared: Shuffle dance is a popular street dance in many countries around the world. In Quang Binh, this sport is quite new but has attracted many people. At the center, the majority of Shuffle dance practitioners are women, mainly students.

To perform Shuffle dance well requires the practitioner to be persistent, because this dance consumes a lot of energy and focuses on the legs, so it is also called "foot dance". For those who want to maintain and improve their figure, train endurance and those who want to lose weight, this is an ideal sport.

Many students of the center make their mark at large-scale competitions.

Connect and spread

With a variety of training classes, KVTT Center 79 Huu Nghi is considered a common home for many people who love and are passionate about modern sports, the most popular of which is KVTT.

To develop this subject, the center's coaches have created many exercises from basic to advanced for the subjects. For young people with good health, the coaches focus on guiding them to perform difficult techniques of the dances. Middle-aged and elderly people only practice gentle, graceful movements, limiting high-tech movements that require a lot of effort.

Thanks to persistent practice, many people have overcome their own barriers and the fear of expressing themselves in front of a crowd to become athletes participating in competitions such as: Sports Dance, KVTT, Zumba Fitness, Modern Dance... organized by the Department of Culture and Sports.

Many students of the center have participated and won important prizes at provincial and national competitions. Hoang Ba Phuc, a student of Dong My Primary School (Dong Hoi City) is one of the outstanding faces of the center. Having been exposed to KVTT quite early, Phuc has performed very well in dances that require high techniques, such as: Samba, Chachacha, Rumba...

At the 2020 National KVTT Championship and National KVTT Cup held in Lam Dong province, Hoang Ba Phuc combined with a female dance group in the chachacha, rumba, samba dances and won a silver medal. In addition, Hoang Ba Phuc and Le Mai Anh also won a bronze medal in the children's category D Latin. Notably, at this tournament, the center also won a gold medal in the Standard category ensemble performance.

The center's good organization of Gala competitions and performances creates connections between dance clubs and folk dance clubs in the province.

“I am very passionate about KVTT and Shuffle dance. Performing vibrant dances, I find myself becoming more agile, flexible, and confident, and practicing regularly also helps me maintain my health to study better. In addition to studying, I will arrange time to practice and hope to become an athlete and coach to test myself on the competition floor and help many people know about KVTT,” Hoang Ba Phuc confided.

In addition to participating in provincial and national competitions, every year, with the permission of the Department of Culture and Sports, the center also organizes 2 Gala performances and competitions of dance, folk dance, yoga, zumba, modern dance, aerobics, and shuffle dance, attracting the participation of many clubs in the province. Organizing activities not only creates opportunities for students to interact and meet, but also creates connections between clubs, contributing to spreading the sports training movement in the province.

At the first provincial folk dance and sports festival in 2023, "Healthy and beautiful dance" organized by the Department of Culture and Sports, the center coordinated with dance clubs, folk dance Tham Thuy Hang (Dong Hoi City), An Ninh, Tan Ninh (Quang Ninh) to create a Shuffle dance performance (48 members participated) on the background music of the song "Oh Quang Binh" (by musician Hung Ca Cao) and won the A prize.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong, a long-time student of the center, said: At any age, you can practice dancing or Shuffle because the coach always builds exercises suitable for each age and ability of each person. In each practice session, the coach guides the students to do warm-up exercises, then immerses them in the dances. Through practice time, some middle-aged and elderly students of the center all perform well in graceful dances, performing difficult movements that require high techniques, no less than young people...

In particular, recently (May 20-26, 2024), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has created conditions for coaches of sports clubs in the province to participate in professional training courses on instructing the practice of Shuffle dance, folk dance sports and organizing sports activities for children and teenagers in the summer of 2024 organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

From this training course, coaches of the 79 Friendship Sports Center are equipped with the necessary skills to organize many activities to develop new sports, creating attractive and useful playgrounds for people of all ages, especially children during the summer vacation.

Not only implementing well the training activities for sports lovers, organizing community sports events, KVTT 79 Huu Nghi Center also made its mark with joyful and beautiful performances at Dong Hoi Culture-Tourism Week. In 2024, the center mobilized 80 students to perform a series of vibrant and attractive dances, creating a beautiful impression in the hearts of viewers.
