Regarding the case of a Vietnamese citizen being rescued by Philippine authorities on May 4, 2022 in Pampanga province, near the capital Manila, Philippines, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recently directed the Consular Department and the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines to closely coordinate with local authorities to visit, support, interview, list and collect information on Vietnamese citizens, especially those without valid travel documents.

On May 25, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ' Citizen Protection Steering Committee met to assess the situation and find solutions to coordinate with the Philippines to bring citizens home as soon as possible.

According to information from the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines, 437 Vietnamese citizens were taken out of the above gambling facility.

The Consular Department and the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City have prepared plans and coordinated with border management agencies to receive and hand over citizens to their families and relevant localities.

Early morning of May 30, a group of 60 Vietnamese citizens returned home.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs directed the Consular Department and the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines to continue to discuss with the Philippine side to soon bring the remaining citizens back to Vietnam safely./.
