Vu Thu District Youth Union presented gifts to Vu Duy Thoan's family, Bong Dien Nam village, Tan Lap commune on the occasion of the inauguration of their new house.
As one of the households receiving financial support to build a house, Ms. Dang Thi Lieu, Dai An village, Tu Tan commune, shared: I never thought I would have a new, spacious house to live in because of the difficult economic conditions. Living in a dilapidated, leaky house for many years, thanks to the support of all levels and sectors, I have a spacious house like now. This is the greatest happiness, the motivation for me to continue to strive in life.
Ms. Lieu's house is the first solidarity house in the district to be inaugurated and handed over during the emulation campaign "300 days of joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" launched by the province. After 28 days of construction, the house with an area of 30m2 , solid flat roof, and closed toilet was completed, meeting essential living needs. The total construction cost was 125 million VND, in addition to 100 million VND supported according to regulations, the remaining amount was supported by Vu Thu Construction Materials Joint Stock Company. The house was inaugurated and put into use not only as a meaningful gift for Ms. Lieu but also an important premise for the locality to continue implementing activities to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the area.
In 2024, Vu Thu district has 69 poor and near-poor households with temporary and dilapidated houses registered to build new houses and repair houses and approved by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 1850/QD-UBND, dated November 6, 2024, of which 47 new houses were built and 22 houses were repaired. By April 10, 26 households had completed construction and put the project into use; 26 households had started construction and were in the process of construction; the remaining households did not implement the project because they no longer needed it or had received support from other sources. For households facing difficulties in building and repairing houses, the district requires communes to direct professional staff, departments, branches and organizations to encourage, coordinate and help households in choosing house models, hiring construction teams and suppliers of construction materials, helping with labor days and essential living tools, creating the best conditions for households to build and repair houses.
In addition, the district also mobilized other resources to support families in building new and repairing houses. Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhu, Chairwoman of the Farmers' Association of Vu Thu district, said: Responding to the peak emulation campaign "300 days of joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" launched by the province, the Farmers' Association of the district mobilized cadres and members, in addition to the planned contributions to agencies and units, to contribute additional funds according to the association organization to support 1 member household. With the spirit of "the good leaves cover the torn leaves", the associations at all levels in the district raised 50 million VND to help the family of Ms. Doan Thi My, Viet Cuong village, Viet Thuan commune, repair the house. This is a single-parent household in difficult circumstances. The level 4 house of Ms. My's family was previously seriously degraded, especially after storm No. 3 in 2024, the roof was blown off. With the help and encouragement of the Party committees, authorities, and relatives, after 1 month of construction, the house was renovated with a total cost of over 80 million VND. Mrs. My emotionally shared: After repairing the house, I am very excited, no longer having to worry about strong winds and storms. For me, this is very satisfying. I would like to thank the authorities, departments, branches, and organizations for helping me and hope that many disadvantaged households will also be supported like me to have a better life.
Ms. Phan Thi Ngan Phuong, Secretary of Vu Thu District Youth Union, said: In order to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the district, recently, the District Youth Union has received support from the Provincial Youth Union and benefactors, the District Fund Mobilization Committee for the Poor to support 4 poor and near-poor households to build new houses; at the same time, directing grassroots youth organizations to undertake the work of supporting working days to help families dismantle old houses, build new houses and mobilize socialized resources to coordinate with the locality to build houses for families.
In 2025, the People's Committee of Vu Thu district directed specialized departments and offices to coordinate with the People's Committees of communes and towns to continue reviewing housing for poor and near-poor households so that the Provincial People's Committee can approve the adjustment of the project to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in the period of 2024 - 2025. Based on the review results, the District People's Committee prepared a report requesting the Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Construction, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, and the Provincial People's Committee to approve the addition to the Project's support list for 128 households (including 77 newly built households and 51 repaired households) that are eligible for support according to the provisions of Decision No. 55/QD-BXD dated January 20, 2025 of the Ministry of Construction on criteria for determining temporary and dilapidated houses with a total support budget of over 10 billion VND. In addition, Vu Thu district is also actively implementing the Project to support people with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of martyrs with housing in the province in 2025. As of April 10, out of 25 households with meritorious services requesting housing support that have been approved, 10 houses have been completed and put into use; 10 households are under construction; 1 household has not started construction; 4 households no longer need support. After reviewing, the District People's Committee continues to propose to add to the support list of the Project 17 households with meritorious services and relatives of meritorious services who are eligible for support according to the provisions of Decision No. 55/QD-BXD.
In the coming time, Vu Thu district will continue to propagate and mobilize people from all walks of life to join hands in supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the area. Direct communes, towns, and agencies according to assigned tasks to focus on guiding households to complete documents and procedures to soon receive support funds according to regulations.
